I am shopping for my dress (a victim of dress regret) and can’t decide on which style would best fit our venue. We are getting married at a private home in Palm Springs that is decorated very mid century modern style. This blog features a wedding at the same property: http://blog.weddingwire.com/index.php/weddings/palm-springs-retro-style-wedding-lisette-john/ . I was thinking a simple A line/trumpet would work well so that is what I have been trying on.
I love the top and train of the Venus gown below. (I wasn’t able to snap a pic and its very hard to find on the web!) the top is an asymmetrical origami style and the back has two ruffles water falling down the train. Im waiting to see if they would be able to make the skirt to have a little more volume, which would have the shape of the Justin Alexander below. (Sorry for the poor quality, we had to be sneaky!)
The other dress I’m considering is the sincerity. When I had it on I thought it might be too much poof for a backyard wedding. But when I look at the photo, I think it flatters my shape much more then the Justin Alexander shape.
So Im confused as to which to go with…I love the Venus dress because its so unique, I don’t see a lot of asymmetrical tops & it covers my chest very well. Also the ruffles down the back are super romantic. But I dont know if the skirt is going to be able to get much poofier. The sincerity photographed so well but I’m afraid it will be a bit too much dress for our intimate backyard bash! Help!
Unique Venus dress:
Venus dress would be changed to have a skirt like this Justin Alexander dress:
Sincerity dress: too much dress for a backyard wedding?

Well I LOVE the back of the Venus dress. But I LOVE the front of the second dress (both are lovely for a backyard wedding). Both look great on you, but the second is just a wee bit more flattering, not by tons though!
What is the second made off? Could it trap various bugs outdoors and get stuck in the layers by chance?

@sienna76: I think the first might look a bit better when it’s in my proper size BUT I agree that the 2nd looks more flattering on me. At least in the photo.
The Venus gown is taffeta but I’m trying to see if they can change the fabric because I wasn’t a fan of the way the taffeta moved.
The sincerity is organza. I never thought of the bug issue!!! That made me giggle 🙂 I don’t think I’ll have much of a problem though, there aren’t many flying bugs in the desert!

The first one looks lovely. The second one looks AMAZING. The Sincerity all the way.

The Sincerity dress is gorgeous on you and I don’t think it’ll be too much at all! I’m having a beach wedding myself and I am wearing a dress that’s a ilttle too dressy for the setting, but I love it! So, wear whatever you want! 🙂

The back of the Venus is pretty, but I really like the Serenity.

I think you should order the first one. The back is to die for! If you want more volume in the skirt, take care of that with alterations.
