Hi:

I love this idea and was planning it for our reception when we returned from our destination wedding.  Try abackyardwedding.blogspot.com, which has a lot of info of things to do on a buget with a lot of style.  Also, check out budgetsavvybride and stylemepretty, which has a section entitled "real weddings" and "budget beautiful" (and it includes photos).  One idea that I was going to use to save on alcohol is to have a self-serve bar with specialty beer & wine options (1 red and 1 peach wine to satisfy those who want something sweet).  I bought copper looking tubs for the occassion and planned to set them on a round table covered with black linens and skirt.

Be sure to search for ‘picnic wedding reception’ for great ideas.

Happy hunting!

We had a backyard wedding (well, the reception anyways) and I worried sometimes about it not looking as nice but it came out beautifully! Ours was small, 80 people, and we were on a very tight budget. Check out our slideshow if you’d like (there are more pictures of the backyard stuff towards the end since the ceremony itsel was at an estate.) Good luck!

I actually just posted pictures from a friend’s backyard wedding and reception. It was absolutely beautiful, and classy. Unfortunately, there aren’t a lot of detail pictures up, but there are a couple of pictures that might help you show him what you’re thinking.

Miss Sanddollar has an awesome wedding very small and inexpensive. I would definitely check out her blog. She also added a lot of her own personal touches and did a lot herself. Her wedding is very inspiration! Good Luck

We got married in a park, it cost us $150 for a rental fee, and $535 to rent 140 chairs. Our reception was at a function hall, but still very reasonable for the amount of guests we had… but you can do catering and a tent in the park, depending on the time of year!
