Alright to save on cost, we are thinking of having a backyard wedding. We are thinking July 27, next year in Ohio. So the weather could be unpredictable. If it’s like this summer, it’ll be really hot and dry but it could also be chilly and rainy. We want a casual, family bbq feel to the wedding. Our guest list could be anywhere between 100 to 150
So for those who have had a backyard wedding, what advice do you have? What worked well for you? What didn’t work well? What do you wish you had that you didn’t have? How did you protect guests from the elements (heat, cold, rain, etc)?

Rent a tent. When I was planning the backyard wedding the rentals are what killed my budget and I ended up going with the private room at a local restaurant ($16 per person for plated dinner and no room fee so long as I guaranteed and paid for at least 60 guests.) After I added up the tent, tables, chairs, tableclothes, dishes, silverware, etc… it was going to be $1000 more than having the party at a local restaurant and I didn’t have to clean up. Not to say you can’t get out on top with rentals but I wasn’t able to cut enough corners to stay within my budget.
You can always concel the tent when it gets closer to the date but if you don’t reserve it ahead of time it’s difficult to get one out and set up at the last minute.
