@Heatherloveskenny: Sorry to hear that you had a negative experience on your honeymoon. I, too, recall the poverty in Jamaica while we were headed to our resort years back. Rather than feeling horrible, count your blessings every night for what you’ve been graced with. In terms of the bugs and the mold…that just sux! When my hubby and I honeymooned in the Cayman Islands last summer, we had to take back our rental car because it was making me sick (b/c of mold). I completely empathize! I hope you were able to contact the manager to complain about the negative experiences. By the way, your photos are absolutely wonderful! Glad you were able to capture some happy moments while abroad!

Aww, that sounds awful.
But on the bright side, 20 years from now this will probably be a funny story to tell your kids, yes?

I am sorry that the best thing about your honeymoon were some pictures. But they ARE great pictures! I agree with the PP–you definitely deserve a do-over.

I am so sorry to hear about your honeymoon. 🙁 I can’t even begin to imagine!
Here’s to hoping that you two can get away and have an amazing time for a year anniversary (or any time before that!)

Aww, I’m sorry about your trip. Your pictures turned out great though.
Maybe you need to schedule another mini-moon to Hawaii or something. That’s close to Seattle. It could be a redo.
Sorry, though. *Hugs*

@crayfish: yep…I have to admit, I always heard the DR was wealthier for the Carribean but I had no idea. We saw a group on our flight in miami with Haiti relief t-shirts, quite honestly I wish we had done something like that instead even though it was our honeymoon.
but–I really hope one of the locals finds my husbands ring and can feed his family for the next year! Positive thinking, right?

@Mrs. Puffin: yeah it was eventful lol

I am so sorry your honeymoon was less than ideal!! You guys definitely need a do over!!

Oh wow, I am so sorry to hear that you had the honeymoon from hell! Your pics are gorgeous though and those stories will be something you look back on and laugh at some point in the future.
Yes, traveling to countries with extreme poverty is heartbreaking. I’ve been to many countries where the poverty is everywhere but you know, do what you can (buy local whenever possible) and know that you are helping their economy by putting tourist dollars back into the country. Yes, it’s hard, but sadly, the world is not perfect and one person can’t fix it all. 🙁
On a positive note – it sounds as though you and your Darling Husband need to plan an anniversary trip that can make up for your honeymoon!

That’s horrible! I would suggest posting a review on tripadvisor.com and also sending a note to the hotel’s manager.
Who took those photos? They look professional!

Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry! I really hope you get some sort of partial refund or at the very least and acknowledgment that things were wrong at the resort.
@crayfish: I think you have a great topic for a spin off thread there. I’d definitely be interested in discussing that further!

Oh no! Fiance and I were looking at the Dominican Republic as a possible honeymoon location. We were kind of leaning away from it already, and your story totally made me decide it’s not the place for us!
I’m so sorry it was not a good trip, but I agree with PPs who said it will make a funny story for the kids later.

oh and one more that was a bummer but not a deal breaker was the liquor at the bars were all cut with water, so I drank 5 drinks in an hour the first night we were there and wasn’t tipsy whatsoever…I’m a light weight.
But anyway, thank you for your support ladies!

Ugh, that sucks. Mold and especially bugs are kind of unavoidable in the Caribbean though. A lot of people don’t like going to the poorer areas of the Caribbean b/c of the extreme poverty. Can kind of put a damper on the vaca. CUte pics though! And at least now you know for next time!

Oh that’s terrible… definitely leave reviews all over the place. I’m so sorry!!
