One of my friends was helping me come up with ideas for my centerpieces.
We were going to have lanterns but then things changed and we can’t afford it anymore.
I also had wanted at some point to do some paper flowers but the cost of paper was more than I was hoping, so that plan changed.
Anyways. my friend suggested that since the groom and I are unique we should make the paper flowers out of newspaper, paint them with yellow since I’m having sunflowers, and make the stems from wire and green tape. He also came up with the idea to cover balloons in newspaper, paint them too, and put a battery-operated candle in it to make them lanterns.
I like the idea of the flowers, but I’m nervous about the balloon lanterns. Thoughts? He said he’s going to come up with a mockup soon so we can decide if that’s something we like.

I think its fabulous, and your working with your budget! I’m not sure about the balloons and if they would end up being expensive with the candles.
When you make a mockup , please share!

I think you’ll just have to do a couple mockups and see what happens. It could turn out awesome, or it could turn out really kindergarten-ish, if you know what I mean? I would love to see pics once you get the mockup done!!

I think I need to see a mock up to understand what you might plan on doing, lol cause I’m sure I’m not imagining it correctly. It sounds like it would be pretty though.

@Eva Peron:yeah where I work we get lots of left over newspapers at the end of the night and we could save our future in laws newspapers since they toss them when done reading them. 🙂

@soon2bhis: I know, I was worried if it was going to cross over into the kindergarten realm or not. I really liked the idea of string centerpieces like these: http://ohdarlingwedding.blogspot.com/2010/12/diy-decor-string-sphere-chandeliers.html thought I’m not sure how expensive those are.
