Purmaid2019 :  That’s crazy.

My husband and I wore ours out occasionally before we got married, so far we have not had any “bad luck” from it.

No it’s not. I tried it on at the store.

I don’t think that’s a thing.

My wedding band came soldered to my engagement ring. Guess I’m cursed. 🤷🏻‍♀️

PP is right- it’s not a thing.

It seems to me that standing up in front of people at your actual wedding ceremony and having your wedding ring not fit would be worse luck than anything that might come from trying it on once.

Why didn’t you just ignore her and try it on anyway, though?

Purmaid2019 :  Lord.

I think you might have bigger issues coming than unluckiness related to trying on your wedding band, OP. Good luck! Your Future Mother-In-Law sounds like a doozy!

That’s crazy. Like futuremrs2020  we too wore ours a few times before the wedding just for fun and no bad luck came to us! Though if she truly won’t budge on this strange “rule”, I would at least figure out the size of the ring and if you know it won’t fit, tell her that she needs to either give it to you guys or get it resized herself!

Totally ridiculous. You want to make sure it fits and looks good with your engagement ring.

The old wives tale is that it’s bad luck to try one SOMEONE ELSE’S ring. So she’s going to be the one with bad luck for putting on your e-ring….hahahha 😉

Jessi2883 :  I was just thinking that same thing! I’ve heard it’s bad luck to try one someone else’s ring, not to try on your own before the wedding!

Get your own ring is my advice! And try it on…..

If you believe in superstitions, then sure it is bad luck.

I don’t believe that objects hold my fate in their hands.  I do, however, believe it is bad “luck” to let your mother/in-law dictate aspects of your life and enter into a marriage having failed to establish appropriate boundaries with her.  That’s gonna cause you a hell of a lot more problems in your marriage than trying on your wedding ring early.
