Equine_Breeder :  definitely have it repeated! My husband’s numbers were all over the place. Never great, but some samples were definitely better than others. We did IVF for our daughter (and soon to be son) but in between we also had a natural pregnancy that miscarried.

My husband’s urologist suggested surgery for his varicocele and said it would improve his numbers so not sure why his doc is counting it out. My husband also has partial retrograde ejaculation though and surgery wouldn’t be able to fix that problem – with the surgery being a significant recovery time and the fact that we already had our embryos he opted to cancel the surgery. I’m pregnant with what is very likely our last kid and we still have frozen embryos so we don’t need his nuts to work anymore lol.

Equine_Breeder :  When we got my husband’s bad SA results, my RE made a similar comment as your Dr, but he didn’t say all those things (supplements, lifestyle changes, varicocle surgery, etc) wouldn’t help, he just didn’t think they would help enough to push us into the range where he would recommend anything other than IVF.  Like, it might make his counts 25% better, but he would have needed a 75% improvement for a different recommendation.  I think it’s definitely still worth trying all of those things.  Clearly his swimmers have found their way to the right spot before, maybe a little boost could go a long way.

Has something happened with his health within the last 3-4 years? Smoking? Lifestyle habits? Has he had a physical? Could it be age related?

We’re waiting on our SA results too.  I’ve had a vaginal ultrasound done that revealed one ovarian cyst, bloodwork that revealed higher than normal estrogen levels and an HSG that showed my tubes were open.  The nurse said the cyst and estrogen shouldn’t be a big factor for fertility, so we’re wondering if it’s him too.  IVF is really expensive and I feel your anxiety on that bit.

Equine_Breeder :  definitely cannabis can affect fertility, and I would think the masterbation could contribute too.  How many days did he abstain before providing his sample?  It’s been a while since my husband did one but I think they wanted you to abstain for 2-5 days before SA.

Masturbates 2-3x a day? Yes, that’s excessive. CBD oil can definitively affect sperm too.

Can you let your fertility clinic know about the masturbating, CBD oil and the candida overgrown?

Equine_Breeder :

Masturbating 2 or 3 times a day seems…excessive to me, but idk. But  for a man wanting his wife to conceive it seems a bit odd OP. Sex with you 2 or 3 times a day would make more sense . Is it since his low sperm count news, l mean do you think he’s doing it to feel more masculine or something?

Whatever, l most certainly would not assume you’ll never have another baby, not with  your history of one successful pregnancy and one miss. That’s quite promising actually.
