(Closed) Bad self esteem- getting married less than a week. Tips?

nurseallicat:  Post surgery are you able to take walks just to get the endorphins flyin’ around? If at all possible, try to focus on all the positive. A super happy day is coming up! Friend! Family! Love! It’ll truly be a beautiful day for you.

Yup, try to get out or at least some sunshine – vitamin d does wonders. 

When I was younger, I was super shy and not confident at all. I read something that said to just say nice things to yourself until you start believing them. In my head, all the time I would say “you’re beautiful! You’re smart! You got this!”.

And it worked. My friends consider me the most confident person they know.

I had a class once where we did a really helpful excersise for confidence boosting. 

 

We would all focus on a person who was onstage (this was a musical performance class), and would rate this person from 1-10 for how beautiful and confident they looked, and how nervous they seemed while performing.  Then the person in question onstage would give their own 1-10 number for how beautiful/nervous they FELT. 

 

Without a single exeption, the person onstage rated themselves 2-5 points lower than the people observing.  Every time.  The person onstage would feel like a clumsy basket of nerves, but the people in the audience would see a beautiful confident performer with poise.  THIS ALL TO SAY – Everybody else will be seeing you as beautiful and confident even if you dont see it in yourself!  We are our own worst critics, always.  I have never ONCE seen a bride who looked anything less than radiant.

Take some walks — do some meditation and just try to look forward to a day that many of us on this board are looking foward to one day!

nurseallicat:  Im a big believer in take time for yourself doing the things you love. If you cant work out like previous people suggested see if being outside does help. I love my baths and also love saunas to relax. The biggest thing after surgery is feeling limited so try to find the things you love that you can still do. Even if it is reading and puzzles 😀
