Lol, love it! My senior year of college, my friend and I’s favorite video game series came out with a new installment. We saved up all our days we could miss and used them that week. I think I skipped about four classes :).

lol when I was in hs my parents were big on “mental health” days. They would take me out of school occasionally for no good reason when they had the day off. When I got old enough to drive their policy was basically that as long as I kept up my straight-a grades I could pretty much go or not go to school. I was also super involved which meant I missed a lot of class for various functions/field trips/meetings. I used to skip like once/week or so and it got to the point where I was in class so little that my spanish teacher threatened to fail me even though I was still pulling an A! (she didn’t)

I stayed home today.  Fiance has been working 12-16 hour shifts lately, and he didn’t get home until 7:00am.  I stayed home so I could cuddle with him for a little while 🙂

Granted, I have a really flexible schedule and do a lot of work from home, but still, LOL.

I never skipped a class until college – then I realized the importance of mental health days.  I adopted a puppy and it got worse – I now will willingly skip class when it’s raining/snowing outside to stay home with the puppy, to make sure she has attention and company, rather than crate her.

oh yeah, I’m a bad girl. Wink

@CorgiTales: I got to take mental health days, too. But I was in so many AP classes and activities I usually ended up going to school even when I was sick.

And teachers have those attendance policies because if you go to a public school every day you are not in attendance the school loses money.

@CorgiTales: my mom was really big on these too! I still use them even now for work. If I’m just too run down and can’t get out of bed, not exactly sick, I stay home and rest up. Or perhaps I have a lot going on HW, cleaning, and I just need a break, I’ll call out.

Sometimes we all just need a day to take it slow. It’s a long life to live, no use getting all tied up early and not being able to enjoy it!
