Wow, I’m sorry that happened to you! I also went to DB, but luckily had a great experience every time I went in. I think it has a lot to do with every location. Hope your dress gets fixed the way you imagined it!

DB is so weird about that! Sometimes you’ll hit the jackpot and have someone really, really nice helping you. Other days I feel like the consultant hates you just for being in the store. One time I arrived at an appointment five minutes early and when I checked in a random consultant told me I “was just going to have to wait.” I’m a really polite person IRL, and I wasn’t demanding immediate attention, I was just awkwardly standing there waiting to be acknowledge.

Uggh. But yeah, it totally just depends. 😛

I have heard very mixed reviews on DB.

Aw, I’m sorry you didn’t have a positive experience!  I’ve heard both great and bad reviews about DB.  I really think it depends on which store and who you get.  I had a good person helping me, but she was moving in a week so I knew she was a little “checked out”.  I still had an overall positive experience, but got a dress elsewhere.

I’d definitely leave a review online somewhere about your experience.  That’s not cool!

That’s why people refer them to the Walmart of Weddings. They get your money and then don’t give a damn what happens to you in their parking lot. A lot of people say don’t even mess with their alteration department. My girls are falling in love with dresses from there so we might have to deal with them.

What I’ve noticed is that if I want good service from them I need to make an actual appointment.

If I’ve got a time scheduled with a consultant they are 100% there for me and available to any questions I have.

If I just show up with a group – they usually stay away and let us do our own thing unless we ask for help.

The last time I was there without an appointment a consultant did approach me and ask if I needed help, which I thought was nice of her. But that was after we had been there for well over an hour.

@Miss Tattoo: If it makes you feel any better, I’ve gotten Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses there about three times and I never had any problem with them. For some reason, those seem a lot easier.

Davids Bridal is odd like that. I bought a dance dress from them and they were great from the time I picked it out until my alterations were done. They even recommended some jewelry from a different store that would match perfectly. I also had a great experience when I went to try on wedding dresses (I didn’t buy from there though) and another set of fabulous experiences getting 3 different Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses from them. BUT when I tried to get Bridesmaid or Best Man dress for my bridesmaids they were terrible. They also harrassed my mom when she went in to look at MOB dresses. It’s really hit or miss, but I think a lot of places can be like that.

I had a similar experience, but it was for my bridesmaids’ dresses. I went with my Future Sister-In-Law and they were awful… didn’t help us do much orf anything, and tried to get us out the door. I’m guessing it varies depending on your area and how they feel that day. I know others that love the DB experience 🙂

@BridalBlondie: Oh wow. Yeah I would be pissed off about that too.

I went to DB as well, and didn’t have the best experience. My consultant…if you can call her that was working with 3 brides at a time, took forever to get back to me, and kept picking dresses that were not they style I wanted. Finally the manager came over and tried to help, but by that time I was already frustrated and didn’t care to be there! They started getting pushy, “just try this one on, I bet it will be the one” My mom and I were finally fed up and told them that we weren’t going to buy that day and we would have to come back…didn’t go back to DB for my dress. Went to a small boutique and had the BEST experience ever! It was small and personable. They weren’t pushy and they listened to my wants and needs. It was one on one and didn’t have to worry about my consultant working with multiple brides at once.
