If I were you I would look into switching my engagement shoot location (if it’s not too late) and look into doing an indoor photo shoot at these places:  (If you have any available in your area)

Public Greenhouse/Indoor Garden

Butterfly Conservatory

Accessible Historical buildings

AND stay positive!  The weather may turn out good 😉

Could you change your outfits to be appropriate for the weather?

Tbsmith2:  this happened to me! I has hair and makeup trials booked for our ephotos too and then I had to go and rebook everything! Then when my photos came around for a second time it was still cloudy and gross!

My photographer actually likes taking photos when it’s cloudy, it avoids you squinting from the son, getting shiny from sweat or from the glare of the sun, and the lighting is actually really nice! And come on, can you imagine the photos if it was to pour rain or something? There is nothing more romantic than to be caught in the rain!

Yes, these photos are so important now but after they are done you will realize that any weather will be a good time for photos and you probably won’t even look at these photos after your wedding photos are taken anyways!!

goodluck, pick some warmer outfits, that could be so fun!

this is a photo from our shoot, it was rainy and cloudy but the photos still turned out!!

When you say cold, how cold is that? [California girl here, our definitions might be drastically different]. I’ve done several engagement shoots when it is really cold. In one, the bride wore wore a little black dress with heels for more formal ones. If there isn’t snow on the ground, then you can’t tell how cold it is in the photos!

Tips –

  • Pick up something hot to drink with you so you can sip on it in between shots
  • Have a jacket closeby
  • Get snuggly with your FI!
  • Just try to look as natural as possible. The camera won’t pick up goosebumps, so if you look at ease, you’ll be fine.
  • If you’re taking photos at more than one location, figure out which one you want to wear the dress at. I’d only plan to wear one of the dresses.
  • Bring an extra outfit with you just in case you decide not to wear the dress.

Have fun! Make sure Fiance keeps you warm!

We just did our engagment photos in the rain.. From the 4 fours i seen 2 looked ok. i wasnt happy at all.. I ended up getting sick. I didnt look nearly as good at the end as i did coming in. we were soaked! The pro to this is.. Who gets photos in the rain? Not many people!
