oh, I should clarify–I had sent them a stone I already ownee to set. They refunded everything, including the setting fee and fee for it being more than 6mm (or whatever their rule was). So I didn’t get anything “for free” other than the nice stone box and holder they returned my stone with. Hope his helps!

Yes thank you so much. I’m now on the fence between asking for a refund for the whole thing versus getting them to fix it. I’ll have to think about it some more, but your input was a game changer. Thanks again! It definitely sounds like you did the right thing asking for a refund

Hi I’m so sorry to bother you again, I just had an update and was looking for advice. My anxiety has peaked. I contacted James Allen and told them about the prongs and the diamond being tilted in the setting. The agent was so rude, she made it sound like it was my fault for noticing these issues (in addition to the inscription being uneven, which I noticed days ago). She said “since there are so many notes now, it will get a bit complicated, so I’m going to send it through to management. And there’s a chance they won’t be able to guarantee that they can meet all your requirements”. Just to clarify, my requirements are for prongs to sit flush, the diamond to sit upright and for the inscription to be even. She made excuses about how every ring is custom made so it’s hard to guarantee, or something to that effect, which is so ridiculous. I wanted to argue but I was too afraid. So now she has forwarded my email to management and it will take days for them to get back to me, at the end of which they might apparently just shrug. I poured so much money into this ring and now they might not even be able to guarantee that the ring will be secure. This is so upsetting, I regret choosing James Allen so much. I have been near tears all day.
My other option is to take it to the local jeweller and see how much it will be to fix James Allen’s mistakes. But for that, I will also have to wait several days to see if they can fix it and how much it will be.
Any words of comfort and wisdom and advice would be amazing right now. I’m sorry again to bother you, thank you in advance 😭
And this message is not just directed at sunburn, anyone with any advice would be very welcome.

You’re not bothering me!
I’m disgusted with James Allen. Ever since they were bought by Signet they have gone steadily downhill. Did you speak to someone or just email? I have to say at this point if they were that rude I’d return the whole ring. Or I’d go to a jeweler with a good bench and have another setting made. Even if you have to wait a few days, you’re going to wear the ring for life, so take a deep breath and try to relax (it’s hard, I knows⁷, but you can do it). This will be fixed, don’t let it ruin what is a very special time.
The other thing you can do is write a review of tje poor workma.ship and how you were treated. I have seen that these kind of reviews often get attention. I have also seen people post on Pricescope when they have problems with a vendor. These things are monitored by the company’s media department, and may garner you some attention.
Don’t give up. You really do have options here! PM me if you have any other questions. It’s not a bother at all.

Thank you so much. I PM’d you but it looks like there was an hours-long delay in sending it, not sure why (maybe cos I’m a newbee?)
