I would go for the boxes– they’re solid, so when someone is handeling them and placing them on the tables, they wont have direct contact with the food, whereas in the organza bags there’s more openings.

It really doesn’t matter either way… you’d probably be the only one that noticed… that said, I would think you would use bags for smaller piece type sweets (like skittles or m&m’s), and boxes for chocolates.  So I would go with the bags since you said you weren’t doing chocolates.

My friend HATED putting those little boxes together. It took forever and then they needed a ribbon tied around them  (or a sticker I guess). I would think the bags would be less work. She talked about her fingers being sore for days after.

I like the look of the boxes better, and that’s what I bought, but I totally second the fact that they take forever to put together. I spend HOURS on that – I was off on sick leave and it took about three FULL days of watching Grey’s Anatomy and putting together favours to make it work.

My opinion is exactly the same as runnerbride811‘s

If I saw a box at my seat I’d be expecting it to be filled with a small number of large sweets. Whereas with a bag I’d expect a large number of small sweets.

But if I were in your shoes, and it turned out the boxes were cheaper, I’d get boxes.
As a guest, I don’t care what container my candy comes in. I’m just super excited that you got me candy.

I’ve put candy in the boxes before, and it takes a really long time to put them together, plus they often come out a little wobbly (even with tape and ribbon). And people can’t see what’s in them without opening them first, so a lot of them were opened and then left at that wedding. Organza bags are easy as pie to fill, and you can see what’s in them.

I like boxes better. I went to a wedding and got the organza bag of candy and they were all stuck to the bag. I think the box is cute too, it looks like a little present and easier to dress up.
