We stayed at the Hilton in Nassau, but we used my husband’s hotel points earned when he was a consultant. I’ve heard good things about some of the all inclusive resorts as well.

Fiance and I stayed at the Riu Paradise Island.

The hotel is all inclusive and the drinks and food are great.

It is right next door to the atlantis, so you can walk over there to go to the casino, shops, etc.

From what I could tell the food prices at the atlantis are exorbitant and depending on which section of the atlantis you stay in you may or may not have access to certain pool areas of the hotel.

It really depends on the experience you want and the price point you are looking at.

I LOVED the Riu and Fiance and I had a fantastic time. We also really liked that once we were there we didn’t have to think about money when it came to food and drink which made it more relaxing.

The atlantis is definitely more upscale, but it comes with a much more upscale price tag.

My husband and I went to the bahamas when we were still dating and stayed at the Wyndham Resort and Casino near cable beach in Nassau – we really loved it. the beach is beautiful and the pool with the swim up bar was awesome.

when you stay here you are allowed access to the sheraton next door for other options for food and pool use. The casino connects the two resorts

The Bahamas is made up of over 700 islands so there is something to meet everyone’s needs there.  Bahamas is one of my favorite places in the world to vacation.  Nassau and Paradise Island are the busiest of the islands followed by Grand Bahama Island which is much smaller than Providence Island (ie. Nassau) but if you really want something somewhat undiscovered and absolutely breathtaking, I would look into the Exumas, Eleuthra and Abacos.  They have been slowly showing up on world’s best beaches list the past few years.  In regards to Atlantis, I love the place but IMO, it’s not honeymoon material.  It’s like Disneyworld with tons of stuff to do but with that comes tons of children and little relaxation.

Where exactly in Bahamas are you thinking??

@KIKI25: Hi again date twin. I can finally offer a bit of advice on this site since I’m from the Bahamas. As someone mentioned there are quite a number of islands in the Bahamas but Nassau being the capital is the most popular. I’m guessing your thinking of Nassau, if so, Atlantis is a must. It’s actually not in Nassau but on a nearby island to Nassau accessible by a short bridge ride. I warn you that any room that you book in Atlantis will be expensive. There are several different hotels available within the resort from timeshare units, basic no view rooms, ocean view rooms and ultra luxurious rooms in the Cove hotel (think Four Seasons). If you are on a tight budget you can always stay at Comfort Suites, which is directly across from the Atlantis. The good thing is that the hotel has complimentary daily passes to the Atlantis, which is a huge savings. For example, a day pass to Aquaventure the water park will cost you at least $100 p/p. btw Aquaventure is a must as well. My finance and I just did it for the first time a few weeks ago and we had a blast not to mention we had the best ceasar salad ever. We still talk about that salad today!

Now, if you’re looking for an all-exclusive romantic getaway, then Sandals would be a good option. I’ve been there once as well and the food and service is to die for. The resort also has a private island that is a short boat ride away from the main resort and I hear its awesome.

Hope you pick the Bahamas.Laughing

My ex-husband was from the Bahamas, so I’ve been there a LOT!  It’s a beautiful place. I haven’t been there in probably 7 years, so I can’t give you any recommendations.  Well, I take that back…  Don’t be afraid to buy food from woman selling food out of the back of their cars. That food was some of the most AWESOME food I’ve ever eaten!

We are planning a honeymoon in the Bahamas.  However, we don’t want to be at a resort with a bunch of other people, so we are opting to rent a private home on a private beach.  Secluded, quiet, romantic and not very expensive!  The house includes a small skiff, ocean kayaks and a van that’s waiting for you at the airport when you arrive! =)

Anyone been to St. Lucia or Antigua?  I see most of the posts are for Nassau/Paradise Island but we were looking at those other locations. Any reccommendations?
