Once a month he plans date night, once a month-I plan something special, once a month we stay home, and once a month we are spontaneous. Date night is Tuesdays but we always hang out as much as we can. Wednesday is Wedding Wednesdays…we are close to our wedding now so we will start premarital counseling as most of the wedding details are taken care of. We’ll switch nights and then it will become Marriage Mondays. I tend to have a–for lack of a better word –addictive (like to the internet) personality so I have to work a little bit to make sure I keep things balanced. How do you keep your relationship flowing and not ALL about the wedding?

We totally have Wedding Wednesdays too! It keeps us interesting… if HE talked wedding stuff everyday I doubt we’d be getting married. He really just isn’t that into wedding planning like I am- thank goodness for WB.
We both are very busy people who are up on current events, love to read & are addicted to Big Brother haha. We never run out of things to talk about… I think you just have to have outside interests or common interests other than your upcoming nuptuals!
We’re long distance & we only see each other on average 10 days every 2 months or so- so we have to find new things to talk about every night.
I like to sometimes pretend like we’re newly dating again- it keeps things spicy. You don’t say the same things you would, you’re more flirty, it’s just fun… so often we become stressed or overwhelmed with day to day things and then add a wedding!? AHH!! It’s easy to forget about the relationship part & just focus on the to-do lists, etc.

thanks!! Yes, i totally agree. Thank God for WB. 🙂 Life keeps happening so there’s so much to talk about but as the day gets closer…it’s more and more wedding. 🙂

We made sure we set aside Sundays as our day off, both from work (other than a few hours that he has to work in the mornings) and from wedding planning stuff so we can have a “date” time (that was one of the best pieces of advice we received when we first started dating is to set aside a time for your date time and then guard that time jealously!). We set aside Thursday as the day to work on wedding details. Now that we have just two weeks to go, we’re spending more time finishing up last minute things, so it feels a little less balanced, but we still find time to think and talk about other things. We’re both looking forward to getting back to normal life without wedding planning soon, though.

I am making all the plans, twice this week, when he is in the mood he asks me what I have planned so far. Mind you it has only been 2 weeks, and so far so good. Today our next door neighbor came over, she offered to make candy for the favor boxes as well as our cake. I do know she makes awesome cakes, and I told her the idea of the cupcake tree with a small single layer cake for cutting on top, now she is really psyched about it. Then Mike piped in from the other room, “make sure they are in the right colors, we are doing various spring shades of green, with a little pink and blue thrown in, as this is how our placemats are.”
WOW, she looked at me and said how does he know this, of course I laughed and told her this was today’s discussion.
So far he has given me a list of songs, helped make a few color decisions, but left the rest up to me. He is like a kid at Christmas when I show him websites that I have saved.
Gotta love it.
