I wore a ballgown the first time I got married and had my hair up. Ballgowns are the most formal wedding dress and up hair styles are the most formal hair styles, so I prefer up hair with ballgowns.

@cherryblossomlove:  Speaking of Rockville and Bethesda, Chevy Chase, MD here!

Also, I’m thinking maybe half up/half down or all the way up, especially since mine has straps.

lol I’m from PG County too!

I’ve  got a big skirt and I’ll be doing a classic updo, maybe a chignon or french twist.  I feel like a big skirt and big hair would be too much big going on.

I personally like when brides where their hair up when they wear ball gowns.  It is the most classic, timeless look.

My gown was between an A-line and a ballgown, and I wore my hair in an up-do.  My dear friend who is a professional hair and make-up artist also thought this was the best idea to ensure that my pics turned out well so that I would not have my hair hiding my face from any angle, etc.

Regardless of what you decide, I’m sure you will look beautiful!

Mine was a huge ballgown, and I wore my hair up.

I wore an A Line / Ballgown to my wedding.  I had it half up/half down.  The top was back-combed a bit to give it fullness and to hold my veil.  I have very straight long hair and the part that was down was curled.  I thought it worked really well with the dress and my veil stayed in with no issues.

I have this dilemma. I have really long hair; for my trial I had it in loose curls. However, I love the Hilary Duff ‘bun’ – I have a massive ballgown too. I keep changing my mind. I was thinking up for the ceremony, down for the reception? (Only problem is the state my hair would be in!)
