If I had been able to find a big princessy dress in my budget and with straps (much like Belle2Be‘s gorgeous find, I totally would have gone for it.

My dress was still pretty big, and I felt like Grace Kelly in it!

It’s interesting – I’m finding more and more that sometimes people get *really* opinionated about weddings such that, as you’re saying, they look down on decisions of others about their own wedding, like the dress!  I just feel like, if that’s the dream the girl had, then yay, she’s getting her wish and that means she’s happy!  Who cares what you would wear at yours, or what you think is in style?  If it makes you feel like a rock star, then go for it!

I had a sales attendant say to me the other day, “so, that style that’s really exotic to you and bad-ass and is nothing at like what you would wear every day?  THAT’S what your wedding dress should be.  Whatever the style is!”   The comment really resonated with me.

Ballgown dresses aren’t my thing for me, but I think you all look rockin in your gowns!

I wore a huge ballgown and LOVED it! I had always wanted a big wedding dress. I think I would not have felt like my wedding day was everything I had imagined it to be if I didn’t wear a ballgown.

@Belle2Be: Thank you 🙂

And yes, I am doing the biggest crinoline I could find under my gown. Here is a picture:

It is not colored, but I am considering coloring it the same color as my shoes.

I love all the dresses in this post!  I am also a ballgown bride.  I never thought I would be and have definitely second guessed myself (my dress is so not my usual style) but the dress is beautiful!

What kinds of disparaging comments have you ladies gotten?  I haven’t bought my dress yet, and I probably won’t for a while, but I’m torn between these three:

Justin Alexander 8483.  I would probably get the sash and flowers in a different color, like maybe coffee.  I’m quite busty, and this is one of the very few items of clothing I’ve ever had that seemed to both accent my bust in a really good way – you could tell the girls were huge but they were still totally covered – but also made my waist look tiny.  It’s not a style I would have expected from myself, but I loved it.

…Also the Maggie Sottero Ambrosia and the Maggie Sottero Sabelle, but for some reason, the Bee isn’t letting me upload any other photos.  Ambrosia and Sabelle are quite similar with dropped waists and such, and I have felt more like a princess in those than in any other dress ever.

So what kinds of things do people say about the ballgowns?

Its probably because we are supposed to be independent, career girls.  They are not supposed to want to be princesses.  I love how they look and if you got one you should love it too.  I loved the Justing alexander and I would have gotten it but it just made my full figure look fuller.
