- Wedding: April 2012
Like many brides wore my dress(es) – came home hung them up and left them. Was not sure of what cleaners I wanted to use or what I should do with my dresses. We recently decided we wanted to do a after wedding shoot in our wedding finery for our 1st anniversary so I needed to assess the condition of my gowns.
I had two full ballgowns – 1 Enzoani tulle, chiffon and lace and 1 Maggie Sottero Organza. NOTE both are synthetic fiber – do not use this method for silk!!
For the Enzoani the biggest dirt was from the spray tan solution with a tiny bit of hem dust – soaked it in dawn in the bathtub and warm water – let the water drain out – rinsed with shower and then filled with clear water – drained again and then got as much water out before I hung with the weight of the train still in the bathtub and fluffed to dry
For the Maggie I wore it all over Las Vegas strip – black dust and grease under the hem – soaked in dawn, rinsed, soaked in tide, rinsed, then got as much water out before I hung with the weight of the train still in the bathtub and fluffed to dry
They are both pristine and look freshly steamed as well – not sure if I am going to wear both for the TTD but they are ready and after I am done I will pop them in the tub again. No lace or beading or anything was damaged and they are huge suckers! I know the washing machine is a popular option as well but did not want to take them to the laundromat and this worked great!
