First of all, this is about personal preference so lets not start throwing the T word around
How do you feel about balloons at a wedding, my best friend is completely bothered by the fact that I refuse to have balloons at the ceremony and reception, but I’m just of the opinion that balloons belong at picnics, carnivals and kids parties. Although I have seen an awesome balloon arrangement at a wedding, but it was done by a very talented and pricey balloon artist and it was made up of giant round balloons that had smaller balloons inside and lights inside, so it looked more like a lantern.

There is a way to do it right and wrong in my opinion 🙂 I don’t like the prom look or clown birthday party but something where the ballons are covering the ceiling and the strings hang down, or a few CIRCLE balloons (not the typical shape ones) I think can look really modern.

I’m with you guys. I won’t be doing it because it doesn’t fit our theme and feel, but they can look great sometimes. Plus, I’d hate to have to worry about blowing them all up :).

It depends on how formal your wedding is. I think in most cases they just look off next to all the pretty flowers and such, but if you’re having a really casual wedding they might work.

I think when done properly, they look awesome. I saved a few inspiration photos of balloons during my planning process, and of course, I loved my nephews and stepson going down the aisle with their big round white balloons (because kids don’t understand the concept of a party without balloons). Other times, I think it can go horribly wrong. However, the spirit of it is what counts right?
There was a hive member who had an awesome wedding where she used balloons for centrepieces and they were AMAZING! I wish I could remember who it was… I also had a photo saved of these huge balloons (like 6′ diametre) hanging down over a dance floor and it was awesome. I can’t find it though 🙁

Agree – no balloons. When I think about a lot of balloons I am picturing Prom or Birthday…..

Oooh I found her. It was SweetAdelineXO, one of my favourite weddings ever I think. It was gorgeous.

it’s a very fine line between nicely done and horribly wrong. i’ve seen some instances where a couple of ballons look great, but could they could quickly turn into a five year old’s birthday party.

Not my thing, what if they pop at the reception? For some reason I REALLY hate the sound of balloons popping.

Big, perfectly round balloons, yes. Very modern and can add an elegance to a wedding.
Smaller balloons, and most “balloon arrangements” also remind me of prom. Personally, Not my taste for a wedding.

I’m also of the opinion that depending on how they’re done they can be gorgeous. I definitely don’t think your friend should be bothered because you don’t want them!

I love the big perfectly round balloons on the ceiling for a tent wedding. Baloons are cheaper than draping, and if done correctly, can have the same affect.

I think they’re fun. I agree that you have to kind of design it, but I think it could be done.

I voted Meh, but it’s really “Depends”.
Those perfectly round ones can look awesome! A multicolored bunch of regular ones? Maybe not so much.

I think they can be fun if they are done in the right way – like what bakerella posted with the large round balloons – but normal sized balloons – no, I dont thnik they look right at a wedding
