I’ve been doing a ton of research on bands in the Philly area and have been getting so frustrated.
We would really like a band, but we just cant stand any of the traditional wedding band music. We want the kind of band that could rock out a bar down the shore — current hits, classic rock, current/90’s rock (dave mathews, red hot chili peppers, sublime), and maybe a few 80’s for good measure.
Everyone seems to want to play motown, sinatra, or just those awful songs that we’ve all heard too many times (shout, twist, get down tonite, celebrate) etc. if you wouldnt want to see them play on a fun Friday or Saturday night out, i dont want them.
Im sure i’m not the only person who hates wedding-ish music. Any suggestions? Would be so appreciated!!

EBE had some fun bands. Try Barcelona – they’re younger and edgier.

Dog Voices is a jersey shore bar band (i go hear them in LBI in the summers). they are AMAZING and definitely play music like that, and you can hire them for private events.
i would have LOVED to have hired them, but my parents totally freaked so we are going with a more “traditinal” wedding band. oh well, maybe for my 30th….

We are using Central Park, they have some songs on their website, but suggest seeing them play live. I’m not sure the next time they will be there, but we heard them at the Parx casino.

Did you look into Brandywine Valley Talent?

I second the EBE bands- we are using Rio but they have a bunch of bands with each kind of having their own specialty. I would suggest going to one of their showcases- Rio’s does play the Sinatra and Motown type stuff but only if you want that. They have a really extensive play list and will play the type of music you request. Message me if you want me to send you their playlist.
