Wasn’t sure where to post this. So I am getting a bonus from work and have a decision to make – I could spend the money on a videographer (about $3500).. an additional wedding band (lil over $2k) or I could use it towards some debt.. Leaning mainly towards video or debt cause I hate carrying credit card balances…
What would you do?

I would put it towards debt. Why not start married life with a little less baggage?

I just got my video back, and I’m so glad we went with video. I think everyone should do video, but $3500 seems steep!

I say debt. But it really depends on whether you think you’d actually watch the video of your ceremony.
I know me & my fi won’t be.

I say you should put it towards a video, debt will always be there, your wedding is only 1 day. Why not have it immortalized on DVD.
I would invest a lot of money in a good wedding video, so when I’m an old granny and I’m losing my memory, I will be able to re watch my wedding. I never want to forget the most important day of my life.

Once you divide the cost by how many times you’ll actually watch the video, you’ll find that a $1000 per watch fee is pretty steep.
Debt is what i’d put it towards.

Thank you – I think that is where I am leaning.. Although I really really want a video I can’t seem to stomach $3500 ;( so seems like putting towards debt is the smart way to go

@Dragonfly22ny: I’m also on LI, and I’m pretty sure you can find video for less than that – I didn’t really look around and just went with my photographer, but I’m sure you could find a good deal somewhere. I vote for put it towards the debt and look for a cheaper videographer. 🙂

@WillBeMrsD: You know you would think that you could find something cheaper but I looked and if you want the cinematic theme then it is that expensive.. I swear they hike up the prices because of where we live. I think we are going to buy a camcorder and just record first looks, ceremony and first dance thats all I care to see anyway so that will save us money 🙂
