Hey everyone! I need some 3rd party opinions.
First–some brief backstory!
A few years ago I had a brain aneurysm and needed a craniotomy. My scar is very large and extends from the top of my head down past my ear. My surgeon is a freaking miracle worker though and the scar is barely visable; however, I have several metal plates in my skull in my temple and forehead. I am extremely self-consious of them (although nobody else ever notices them). Ever since my surgery I have had bangs so that my forehead, and the offending lunps in my head, are covered.
I do think I look good in bangs, but I just don’t think bangs are all that bridal. My wedding isn’t for another year so I have plenty of time to grow them out (although engagement photos may catch them in an awkward phase).
Do you all think I should keep the bangs or grow them out? My wedding is going to be very formal so my hair will be in an updo. Even if I grow them out I would probably try to have a tendril or something on that side to cover my temple.

I think it’s a bit hard to judge due to the silly face you’re making in the second picture 😛 However, I recommend you google “bridal bangs” and look at the pictures. I think they can be done very well! I recently got bangs (eye-length, side-swiping), and looking at the pictures on google and pinterest, I’m very confident they will look beautiful on my wedding day!

I’d go with with a sideswept bang, especially with an updo. But that’s just a look that I prefer. Don’t feel like you need to cover your “lumps” because I bet no one even notices them. BUT if you can’t feel confident without the bangs then you should keep them. Do what feels more ‘you’.

Keep them! I love bangs! I had full bangs for my wedding. Rock it, girl!

As beautiful as the hair styles shown above are, I reall think you have the sort of beautiful face that looks great without bangs, I am biased because I just have never really loved them on anyone, I am sure you’d look greta no matter what you decided!

cvaldes13: I think you look beautiful with and without bangs. If you’re more comfortable with them, keep them! You can still be a formal bride with bangs!

I agree with the previous posters, if you’re more comfortable with bangs, that is what you should do. However, I think you look stunning without them. Your eyes are beautiful and I think they stand out more without bangs. You can always grow them out since you have a year to see if you get used to not having them. If you decide you miss them, they’re just a haircut away!

cvaldes13: I really like your bangs. But as someone who loves full on bangs like that I guess I’m partial. Of course they look horrendous on me. I think you rock either look. And don’t be too self conscious about your scar 🙂
I have one as well on the top of my head but mine is a bald patch which I keep covered by having my hair a certain way (having bangs and then pulling them back). I got mine from simply bashing my head against a futon and cutting my head open and the scar never healed. So I can understand being self conscious. Over the years I’ve learned to just ignore but I still have the behaviors of hiding it (just out of habit) but it doesn’t bother my husband and he still loves me.

First off, you’re gorgeous! I had bangs just like yours for two years prior to my wedding and while I loved them my hair stylist suggested I grow them out a little to give them a “swoop” like previous poster have suggested. I ended up loving my hair but I think bangs can be bridal!

If you want bangs then do a light side bang…definitely not a full set of front bangs.

I think you should do whatever makes you feel comfortable, but I love the bangs on you if that helps!

I think you look great both ways! Do whatever you feel comfortable with…you could always try growing them out and if you’re not feeling it, just get your bangs re-cut. I will say, I would usually so NO to bangs but I do think they look really really good on you!

I think you look great both ways! I second (third? tenth?) the side swept look. You look younger with bangs (I don’t know if that’s a positive or a negative for you). I really loved Kate Hudson’s bangs in “Bride Wars” 🙂 I think a PP posted a pic and her’s was formal! Lol

Thanks everyone! I appreciate all the feedback!
I think I like the idea of sideswept bangs. Maybe something along these lines:
I think I may want to keep the bangs for my engagement photos–then I could grow them a bit before the wedding to get to the side swept look…
I also love this look too:

Wear your hair how you’re most comfortable. I am personally a fan of bangs and am planning on keeping mine for the wedding with hair in a half up/half down style. Oh and I voted with you keeping the bangs– you look cute!!
