Fiance and I had a similiar problem with the first caterer we wanted to use.  FI really wanted to use them and tried convincing me people wouldn’t drink as much as I thought they would…the problem? I don’t want to be sitting there on my wedding day cringing that my college friends are on their 5th drink.

I don’t know how much a drink in a bar costs where you’re having your wedding, but I know when the first caterer tried to do that to us it was MORE per drink for the wedding than it was in the restaurant.

Why do you have to convince the FILs? It’s your wedding, and you’re the one who’s paying for the bartender…they should abide by what YOU will be most comfortable with.

Good luck 🙂

Do you mean that because of his criminal record he is not allowed to have contact with alcohol vendors?

Your FILS are not paying for the drinks. You and your Fiance need to come to a joint decision and he can inform his parents. It is crazy to go beyond your budget for alcohol and not get what you want.

The reality is that if people are not paying out of pocket for drinks they will drink more. Well, maybe not more but they will be more likely to get a new drink when the old one is room temp or put it down and forget where so they get a new one. There are a million scenarios.

There is no comparison between the two options. Call back bartender 1.

What do you mean, your Fiance is ‘not allowed’ to be a go between? WHo is not allowing him? He is not a child, and if this is his parents’s silly rule he needs to put his foot down. You found a bartender who fits the budget and will be less expensive than the one they found. Done, the end, not their decision since they’re not paying for the drinks.
