- Wedding: September 2011
So, Fiance made ANOTHER huge mistake. He told me I had to hold up on planning because we had to have a “family meeting” with his parents. It involved the food, guest list, flowers and talking about the bar options for the caterer. THey are paying for food and flowers, not drinks. I was told their bartender would be cheaper. Okay, I will wait and talk it out. a whole month later we finally get together (they live 10 miles away at most) They are busy, but I am stressed at this point.
We get there, and they wanted ALL the information regarding the wedding planning that I was told by Fiance to not do until that night. Okay, stressful, but I can get flower choices and the other little details done by next week. Even though I wasnt “planning” I already had good ideas.
The issue was, I cancled with MY bartending company (advice from Future In-Laws,) and found out last night that their caterer is charging PER GLASS!!! 4.25/wine 3.75/beer. for 200 people!! Future Father-In-Law is trying to convince me that at most on average ppl drink 2 drinks per night, and that would bring us to our MAX budget. I KNOW this is wrong even for their family. Last wedding I know I had two drinks and I didnt have nearly as much as everyone else.
Also I have told them repeatedly that my mom, sister, step mom, and I dont drink beer or wine. I wanted the option of a signature drink. The caterer charges $5/cocktail. In addition, my dad gave me a budget for his contrubution, and his ONLY request for the whole wedding was Bud Light. Not an option with the caterer, and Fiance thinks he will get over it. I dont WANT him to get over it, I want him to be happy with his only request. Okay, He also requested no “baggy pant rapper” music, but thats not a money issue. lol
I checked old emails from my first choice bartendering company last night to get all the information again. They charge $500 for two bartenders for the night, and we provide all drinks and accessories. You can rent, but Future In-Laws have most the accessories we need, so all I would need is ice, 2 buckets, and drinks. Total cost: $2000/200 people!! $500 less than our max, and I get my drink, and everyone will have plenty for the night (but not crazy drunk amounts)And it would honestly be a get way to get my dad busy before the wedding to pick up the drinks (he offered)
My only issues now, convince the Future In-Laws, and see if my place will do it now. AND Fiance is not allowed to be a go between for his parents. He is on probation. This is a HUGE head ache
