Personally, I love the BE makeup line.  I’ve used it for 6 years now.  Some people say it doesn’t photograph well, but I’ve had several professional photos taken in the past 6 years and have never had a problem!

I am not a big fan of BE make up to me it is to messy with all those lose powders.  I used it for about a year.  Only thing I like of their stuff is the lip gloss/lips sticks.

@HiltonBeachBride: As long as you use waterproof mascara, you should be fine 😉  I’ve had indoor and outdoor sessions and both always turned out great… maybe it’s the skin type?  IDK – but it’s never been as issue for me.  I’m definitely a loyal customer.

I have used Bare essentials for a few years now, I used the brand for my e-pics, and I thought it photographed just fine. I find it is great for my skin, really breathe-able and doesn’t feel heavy, which is nice, I don’t find it runs or streaks, and I find it absorbs oil better than most liquid foundations.

I agree I am a BE girl and I love their foundation!! The only thing that I also use esp for a big day like this in addition is a PRIMER!! I love Ubran Decay Eye primer and also Smashbox photofinish has a wonderful face primer. I know BE has their own line of eye/face primers too and I am sure they will use this on you. My avatar shows me with BE makeup and I think it photographs well IMO.

Here is my avatar pic bigger (it was from the summer when I was in vegas so I had tan lines) and then the other one is from valetine’s. So you can see some diff pics for referance. I love their stuff. Stays on in diff weather too and all day.

Not a fan of it.  I prefer the Avon mineral make up.  Goes on easier and stays longer IMO.

BE is itchy on me, I would at least go to a counter and see how much they will let you play with it. I bought a kit, my roommate raved about it, and found out 30 min after putting it on that I had some kind of reaction to it. Not really something you want to find out on your wedding day.

I have used BE since at least 2003 and love it. I have some serious skin issues with rosacea and some scarring from botched laser hair removal and BE gives me complete coverage without looking like I have on makeup. It always looks great on me in photos (very natural but radiant and smooth) and I simply will not use anything else.

Tips:

  • Use moisturizer, especially if you tend to have dry skin; use something really light if you tend to be more oily
  • Definitely use primer (Soothing Care Anti-Chafing Powder Gel works just like Smashbox for about $8; get it at CVS, Walgreen’s or Target in the feminine care aisle
  • If you need concealer for blemishes, use BE Bisque or one of the warmer colors like Summer Bisque or Honey Bisque. It will neutralize redness and covers any imperfections; use after applying primer
  • If you want a bit of shimmer, use Clear Radiance. I like to apply it around my eyes and on my cheeks BEFORE applying foundation so the shimmer seems to come from within rather than looking like something applied on top of my makeup
  • Use the kabuki brush for fast, even application and be sure to blend makeup down into your neckline for a flawless, even look
  • /mix a bit of Clear Radiance with your blush and apply it for more of a dewy, glowy look
  • Set with Mineral Veil and have that with you (or your MOH) for any touch-ups during the evening.

Visit Ulta if you have one in your area & try it out. Go without make up on so you can try the colors on your face and find your correct match (match to your neck); they have many more shades than what comes in the kits.

Best of luck! I’m sure you’ll be beautiful on your special day 🙂

@HiltonBeachBride:  It has SPF and I hear that’s not good for photography.

I use BE and Everyday Minerals (less sparkly) and to be honest it looks great with my professional camera so I don’t know.  Going to run a few trials.

I think mineral makeup is very different than other types, there is less blending, it’s more dabbing and less elaborate eye makeup styles but its great for me.

I personally love BE.. I have only used their mineral powder foundation, though, nothing else.. my skin is kind of splotchy so I always wear foundation, and I love how light the mineral powder stuff feels while still providing the coverage I need.  To each his own, but I personally do like it!  I also like the MaryKay mineral powder foundation!

@HiltonBeachBride: I don’t think that mine is the typical reaction, I usually don’t have reactions to stuff like that at all so I was really surprised, but you should be able to go to a counter and put enough on to rule out a reaction. Victoria secret eye shadows do the same thing. Weird.
