My wedding is in June and I wear Bare Minerals every single day. BUT my makeup artist has told me that Bare Minerals is very subtle and you want something more heavy-duty for your big day. She too said that it does not photograph well, and I’m going to trust her word.

I use Bare Minerals every day. I don’t think it’s heavy enough to photograph really well, unless you have stunning skin to begin with. I’m having mine done by a Bare Minerals makeup artist for the engagement photos, but I’ll stick with heavier stuff for the wedding.

Don’t mineral based make-ups cause the white haze in flash photos?

My photographer did a blog on it, will see if I can find it…

I usually never wear any makeup, but used Bare Minerals on my wedding day. In fact, I went and got a trial done by their makeup artist and bought everything right then and there. I adore my photographs and think that everything showed up just enough. I’m not big on the heavy makeup look and thought that it looked great!

I used to use Bare Minerals, but what my MUA and others have told me is that mineral makeup is too reflective, and doesn’t photograph well because of that.

I had a discussion about this very issue with the ladies at Bridesmaid or Best Man. There was only one woman who said she did use it for some brides (she was a MUA) and had to focus on prepping the skin using the right primer and also the right finishing spray (Urban Decay All Nighter, I use it daily).

IMO as a daily user I don’t think it lasts well enough, even with the primer and finishing spray, to rely on it as my wedding day go to.

It has physical sunscreens and those reflect light–so it won’t photograph well in bright light or with a flash.

I wear Bare Escentuals Matte daily, because I don’t like the “sparkle” of the regular formula.  I think that may photograph better than the original version, but I am likely going to be wearing Clinique Stay True liquid. But if you are not interestd in a liquid, the matte formula is a better bet than the regular for Bare minerals.

FYI – I have no idea what actually makes people’s makeup “glow” like the PP’s link to a convo about Bare Minerals, but I had my makeup done at Bare Escentuals for my engagement photos (I also wear it daily), and here is how they turned out:

Penthouse Engagement Pics!

No glowing! 🙂

I used both Bare Minerals and liquid makeup both on my wedding day.  I used the liquid underneath as a good base along with primer and moistureizer.  My makeup was flawless all day and my pictures turned out amazing!
