So I am having a shoe dilemma. As I have posted before, I am getting married barefoot on the beach, but will be wearing shoes later for our dinner reception. I have been looking for shoes everywhere, but I am really falling in love with shoes that have a little heel to them. Nothing crazy, not over 3″… but I don’t know how feasible this is. I really don’t know how this all works.. and my dress hasn’t even come in yet, let alone been hemmed… but if I am going to be barefoot on the beach.. how high of a heel can I wear later and still have my dress length look appropriate? I’m just not sure how that works… haha.

I am in the same boat. I am thinking that 3″ or less should be fine. That way you aren’t tripping over your dress while barefoot but it also won’t be too short with shoes on. At least that is what I am hoping for for myself!! 🙂

I went barefoot on the beach and wore 3.25 inch heels later. I was definitely dragging my dress but I wasn’t tripping all over it or anything.

Gotcha! Thank you both so much. I think I will probably go for like a 2.5″, definitely 3″ highest. I’m happy because I feel like I have more options now 🙂

I am doing the same thing…barefoot on beach and heels for the reception. My heels are about 4″—my dress is a few inches too long, but when I add the crinoline slip underneath it is the perfect length. I will simply remove the slip for the reception so the dress will then be perfect length with the shoes. I have a mermaid style dress so I am not sure if this would work for all dress silouettes but thats what I would try!
