I’ve been looking for the perfect barn/farm venue for my ceremony and reception, but I haven’t had much luck. I’m working on a budget, so the cheaper the better! I am open to places within an hour and a half of Binghamton, NY. My problems with most places I’ve fund so far: too expensive (most of them!), don’t like the idea of port-a-potties, too close to the road (The Barn in Ithaca).
I’ve literally exhausted my resources and feel that maybe I should give up on the barn/farm idea.
I have two options left:
1. A vacation home in Delhi, NY that is available to rent for weddings (problem is that the owner still hasn’t emailed me back).
2. The Big Red Barn at Cornell. It looks beautiful, I’ve read great reviews. Problem is: I’m not a Cornell alumni, so I’m worried it might be odd to hold a wedding/reception there. Plus, privacy…I don’t know if it’s on a main part of campus or not. Plus I heard from someone that the place books years in advance by alumni.
Has anyone ever been to the Big Red Barn at Cornell? Has anybody rented a vacation home for a wedding. I’m looking at around 80-90 guests. Any advice/tips appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
