carolinagirl1217 :  It definitely depends on your location.  Our outdoor venue was about that (included chairs and tables, but not food and bev) and we found it to be pretty reasonable for our area.

carolinagirl1217 :  unfortunately rustic barn weddings are so popular now that venues that fit their aesthetic can really uptheir price. I’d say pass on this venue 8,000 is way too much just for the space alone.

I’m in Chicago and there’s a venue that’s super trendy here called Salvage One. It’s around $8,500 for the space + furniture.

That doesn’t seem like that much for what’s included…. There can be a lot of sticker shock when it comes to wedding planning!

This sounds reasonable to me.  The 24/hr deal is clutch–that’s probably where some of the price comes from.

My venue (2.5 hr north of NYC) is 10k for a barn and tent, tables and chairs.  The catering, however, is included ($180/pp with alcohol, linens, everything else) which is the big price component.  It sounds like you could save a lot of money by doing a buffet, etc.

I think the price sounds reasonable. The barn venue you described sounds very similar to my venue near Milwaukee. For $7,800, we get a refinished barn, dedicated cocktail area, outdoor ceremony space, and separate bride and groom houses for getting ready in. It includes tables, farmhouse cross-back chairs, but does not include catering, alcohol, or a sound system. We also have the venue from noon – midnight. My FH and I actually thought it was a pretty good deal compared to some other venues we looked at in Chicago.

I admit, I’m jealous of the 24 hour rental period!  We’ve got our venue from 10 am – 11 pm and I’m a little stressed about ensuring all deliveries and pick-ups happen on time!

If you think it’s high I’d visit a couple of other venues to price compare, but if it has amenities that other venues don’t have (like the bathrooms you mentioned) it may be more coveted/requested and therefore able to command a higher price.  And then only you can decide if it’s worth it (if it is different than the other venus in your area).

I’m getting married in PA and the barn we chose was around 8,000 with tables, chairs, lights, and some other stuff i can’t remember right now included.  I’m from South Jersey and it was honestly impossible for me to find anything that compared to my venue (it has a beautiful view and the lighting in the barn is gorgeous). At first I was hesitant about the price but I don’t regret a thing.  Follow your gut 🙂
