Generally from every wedding I’ve ever been to, the Cake Table is first set on the dance floor then moved off to the back after the bride & groom cut the cake. I’m dead set on having a wood barrel “cake table” to go with the rustic vibe of my wedding, but realized the other day that these things are HEAVY & once the cake is on there, it’s going to be near impossible to move. Can I just have a fake cake so catering doesn’t have to move it? Will it look weird having the cake out all night? Am I completely over-analyzing this? 😉 …Thanks for any options!

I have the exact same idea as you with the barrel, but I never even thought of having it in the dance floor… I plan on putting it near our table (which is on full display anyway so its not like no one will see it) and away from the dance floor.
As long as people can still see it and see the cutting clearly, you dont need it in the middle of the room 🙂

Yeah, why do you need to move the barrel table? No need to move your cake cutting to a place where everyone can see you: they’ll come to you, promise!

Yes, you are totally overanalyzing it!!
I just saw some at Home Depot and was SHOCKED at how heavy those are. How about if it’s off to the corner of the dance floor and you have some sort of drapery down from the ceiling (like a background) for just the cake so it’s still sort of ta-da! but still out of the way?
