We did a dessert shower for my sil’s baby shower.  It was a big hit!  We did mini cupcakes, mini cream puffs, mini cheesecakes, chocolate chip cookies with vanilla milk shots, and dessert shots.  the dessert shots were my favorite.  We used plastic shot glasses and layered whipped cream with things like chocolate mousse, cherry pie filling, blueberry pie filling.  My Mom and I made everything.  We did the cupcakes about a week ahead and froze them, after we wrapped them REALLY well.  I did the cream puff shells the same way, and flled them the night before with a mixture of cream cheese and strawberry jelly.  The mini cheesecakes were made in mini muffin tins.  They were super easy, I got the recipe from Taste of Home, you can look it up on their website.  The vanilla milk shots were just milk mixed with the vanilla coffee flavoring they sell.  The name starts with a “T”.  The dessert shots looked really pretty with all the layers, and they were really tasty.  Can you tell I had fun with this?!

I forgot to add, we did have a few non sweets.  We did a veggie platter and a couple pizzas.  One was just cheese, and the other had carmelized onions and gorgonzola.  We made these also, with pizza dough we bought at the grocery store.  We had it at about 2 pm.  People stayed until about 5 pm.  We did a few games and then opened gifts.  We had it in the backyard, and had several tables set up, and we brought out a few of the living room chairs.  We tried to make it like a living room outside.  We made several sitting areas, all with a view of the guest of honor.  It ended up being really cool and relaxing.

We are having a potluck couples shower. My Mom and Future Mother-In-Law are hosting it at my Mom’s house. On the invitation it asks everybody to bring their favourite dish as well as the recipe so we can start our own recipe book!
