So like a lot of bees in this forum, I have a bit of dress regret. However I’m not going to buy another dress because frankly there’s no money for that. I did like the dress when I purchased it. I liked how it showed I have a waist, I liked the lace, and I especially liked the back and train. But still…tiiiiiny bit of dress regret rearing its head.
I think the dress regret is coming on because:
- I’ve only worn the dress twice and hardly ever see it
- I’m a super slow shopper, but I didn’t want to hold my Maid/Matron of Honor and dress consultant hostage. So I shopped a bit faster than I normally would.
- I’ve spent too long at WeddingBee and looked at everyone’s beautiful gowns so now I’m more familiar with bridal gowns as oppose to when I first started.
- The gown isn’t fitting me well and might look better after the a good steamstress’ tender loving care.
So anyway I looked over my other dress photos that were taken during the dress shopping experience and figure maybe I need to accesssorize better. Maybe that’ll change my overall feeling about my bridal look.
There’s a independent arts/crafts show next week that I’m thinking of going to to do some wedding shopping so I want to get the thinking process started. That way when I’m there I’m not as indecisive/super slow thinker pro.
I’m leaning towards a necklace with a backdrop because I figure it’ll work out nicely and break up all that back space. I’m also on the lookout for some pearl earrings that can be converted into clip-ons (I don’t have my ears pierced). Maybe a bracelet too?
If anyone has the time, I would appreciate any feedback and/or suggestions! As I said in another thread, I tend to have eccentric tastes that don’t always work out very well for me. I had originally bought this dramatic necklace with fake pearls and crystals that ended up being too blingy for what I was doing. My Maid/Matron of Honor suggested I go with my pearl necklace instead. I’m just worried that now the necklace is a bit too…small? I got a lot of chest/collar space there.
Here’s the dress with my pearl necklace and veil:
I’m not sure if it’s noticeable, but it’s ivory over pearl rose. On the wedding day, I’ll most likely have my hair up as a side bun with fake flowers that match my bouquet.
Here’s the bouquet in case it’s relevant:
Here’s a close-up picture of the pearl necklace and the lining of the veil. The lining of the veil has baby pearls and clear beads.
As I was writing this post, I realize the word “pearl” is coming up a lot. Luckily I don’t have pearl shoes:
So those are the elements that are kind of set. Here are some necklaces on Etsy I was thinking of:

Here are some potential earrings:
Some of these are a bit out of my price range, but I feel that even if they are, I can at least narrow down what I’m looking for. I’m just trying to get my head around this and would appreciate any insight. I don’t like to go too blingy, but a bit of bling is good too.
