We are having a pig roast and bbq type foods….it’s one of the options at our venue and both Fiance and I are excited for it.  Everyone I mentioned it to loves the idea.  If you are looking for a slightly more casual reception, I would suggest it.

I think a bbq reception would be a lot of fun if you went with a more casual feel for your wedding. It is also a great way to potentially save a lot of $$$ with DIY and other ways. For instance, if you are using red, or white, or blue (you don’t have to use then all together if that’s too cheesy for you) you can get discounted holiday decorations to help out. The food should end up being cheaper too since it’s less formal. You could brew your own drinks like ice tea and lemonade and put them in large attractive containers you find at a thrift store.

You could have sparklers since it will be firework season and bbq would mean outside! You could potentially save money with the location too! Possibly even find a gorgeous outdoor place for free! Does someone you know have a gorgeous plot of land to have a big back yard shindig?

Possibilities are endless!

I love the idea of a BBQ wedding! My fiance and I are definitely the laid-back type, and ever since we got engaged in 2009, we have been pretty stuck on having a BBQ reception. We’ll most likely be serving pulled pork sandwiches, BBQ brisket, hamburgers, and hot dogs along with a variety of cold salads and a few hot sides. For dessert, my grandmother will be making pies from family recipes, and the beverages will include water, homemade iced tea (sweetened and unsweetened), root beer, cream soda, and beer. We’re also hoping for the park we are having our ceremony and reception at to allow us to have a bonfire towards the end of the night… Perfect for making s’mores!

I’m getting so excited just thinking about it! I think it is truly a fun and comforting idea, so I say “go for it!” All the best to you, and happy planning!

I’m having a BBQ wedding! I’m not sure of all the details yet, but I’m pretty sure it’s going to be totally unique! I want to wear a big, poofy, sparkly ballgown, have roses and roses galore, and eat BBQ ribs with an bib on at my reception… Yes, I know it doesn’t all go together, but I really really really love ribs and BBQ sauce, it it just wouldn’t be us if we didn’t do it this way! I thought about scaling down the wedding, but you know what? I only get to do this once, so I’m going to do it how I want to!

If you guys want to, just do it!
