So we have been ttc for a while now but I always had a hard time knowing when I ovulate so I started charting. Because my work schedule is so crazy I wake up at all different hours (i.e. 6am, 9am, 10am) and then there are somedays during the weekend that I just sleep in until 12pm so my chart is all wonky. It is now on day 22 with no ovulation found I am assuming because I take my temp at all different hours. I’ve heard about a bbt adjuster and decided last night to use it to see if it would change my chart at all and OMG SUCH a difference. I noticed a week straight of waking up at 10am so I went with setting my time to temp at 10am. This morning I set my alarm for 10am to temp but got woken up by my husband at 8:30 so I took my temp which said 97.9 … went back to sleep and took it again when I woke up at 10 and it said 98.2. Just to see how accurate the adjuster was on FF I put in my 8:30 temp and it did say if I woke up at 10 my adjusted temp would be 98.2 so it seems pretty accurate to me.
With all the time differences FF has not found a pattern but with the adjusted time it says I am 8 dpo which would make sense because the day it says I was first fertile was the day I began having cramps… what do you think?

Can you link to your chart?
I’ve read that when timing of taking BBT is out of whack, you’re just supposed to note it in the notes because the temperature corrector isn’t really that accurate, but it sounds like in your situation because you can’t always temp at the same time, that it might be the best option.

@kate02121:
The first one is the temps with all the time differences and the second is the one that is adjusted

Hm…it’s definitely possible that you O’d on CD14, but not super conclusive to me with the increase in temperature being so slight. Also, are you temping to the 100th or the 10th degree? Given your schedule, you may want to think about cross-referencing and charting your CM as well. That might help give you a better picture. If you did O on CD14 your timing was pretty good.

@kate02121: I am charting to the 10th. I am never really to good at charting cm I always over analyze it. I am really hoping that the adjusting is more accurate then the wonky time difference one because I am nervous about having a short luteal phase. Do you think the adjusted time is more accurate because the wonky chart says I have yet to ovulate.

here are some of the changes so you can get a better idea
Date Time Temp Time Change Temp Change
12/9 11am 97.9 10am 97.7
12/10 11:30am 97.6 10am 97.3
12/11 10am 97.2
12/12 10am 97.5
12/13 9am 97.6 10am 97.8
12/14 12pm 97.7 10am 97.3
12/15 12pm 97.7 10am 97.3
12/16 11am 97.5 10am 97.3
12/17 11:30am 97.7 10am 97.4
Does the adjuster sound plausible?

Is there a way that you can wake up after 4 hours of sleep each day at the same time? And go back to bed if you can? I’ve always read that the temp adjuster is just a guess, so unless you can do that I really don’t know what, if anything, is accurate in your charts above.
I think there’s a section in Fertility Friend about those who work shift work, so maybe read up on that too?

I think I’ll just start waking up at 6 every morning to take my temp that seems like the safest bet. I hope my adjusted chart is closer to my real temps then the crazy one because I will be very concerned if I am at 22 days without an ovulation yet.. at least the adjusted chart shows signs of ovuation
