Okay, I am getting really frusterated with my thermometer. I had bought one at CVS but I didin’t like it because it never beeped to tell me when it was done. I then bought one at Target and it beeped about the first week of use and now it seems like it takes forever to get a read out and never beeps anymore.
Can some one suggest to me a GOOD BBT thermometer? I preferably want one that wi beep to tell me when it is done and have a backlight so that I can read it in the morning when its dark in the room still.

@chelles07: I have been using the CVS brand BBT thermometer and it seems to work well. My temps have been really steady so far. It does take FOREVER to beep though! Some mornings I almost fall back asleep before it beeps, so maybe you’re just not waiting long enough for it to finish? In reality it’s prob 2-3 minutes but it feels like a long time at 6:30 AM. 🙂 The backlight is not great either, but I can recall the last temp so it does the job. Maybe give it a try until you find a new one.

I got one at Walgreens. It was around $8 and works well for me!

@chelles07: Mine is a Nexcare that I got from Amazon. I used one from Walgreens for a while but I found it to be too sensitive to the room temperaure and not very accurate. The Nexcare had a back light and it beeps during temperature taking to let you know you have it in the correct spot. It seems to be pretty accurate, but Darling Husband hates the beeping b/c he’s a very light sleeper. Also, the battery died after just 2 months of use and it was a PITA to find the right battery for it. If someone has a better suggestion for a reliable BBT I would gladly pay more for one.

I have the same Nexcare one from Amazon. I really like it, but had the same issue with the battery dying within a few months. I didn’t have trouble finding a replacment battery though. You can get a pack of 10, also from Amazon, for about $5. It’s the LR41 size. I have tons of them now, so I should be set for awhile!

Another vote for the Nexcare from Amazon. Been using it since May or June, I think, and it’s still going so I haven’t had any battery problems like the others have. It does beep every few seconds but I just muffle it by covering the part where the sound comes from and it’s not nearly as loud. It does only go to one digit after the decimal point and I know some charters prefer the two-digit ones, but I haven’t found that to be a problem for me because I still saw an obvious temp shift after O and that’s really what matters.

Good info to have. I will look into Nexcare myself. (Along with batteries!)
