I was on the pill from 16 to 28. Got off and prevented for 2 months to make sure my thyroid was stable. My cycle regulated immediately and we got pregnant our third month trying after that.

snowflake2016:  Like you, I started the pill when I was 15. I’m 29, and just stopped the pill in February. I’m 7-8 weeks pregnant, and WASN’T trying (long story). 🙂

I too recommend that you read Taking Charge of Your Fertility.

You’ve asked a few times how to know if you’re ovulating. You can check to see whether you’re ovulating by “charting,” which is a broad term for doing any combination of the following: using OPK’s (ovulation predictor kits), checking your cervical fluid, checking your cervical position, and “temping” or monitoring your waking temperature each morning.

TCOYF explains these steps in detail; they’re surprisingly easy to follow. The only thing you need to begin charting is a basal body temperature thermometer (more sensitive than a regular thermometer) and a piece of paper (though I would recommend downloading a fertility tracking app like Fertility Friday to record your temps digitally, instead of doing it on paper).

Good luck!

snowflake2016:  I was on BC for 9.5 years. I turned 28 this past Jan. I went off BC in May 2015 and we started TTC June 2015. We tried for 4 months with no success and decided to take 3 months off because of our crazy work schedules and holiday time. We decided to start TTC again this past Jan 2016 and I got pregnant. I believe Jan was the only month I ovulated since coming off the pill. The pill I was on I didn’t have a period all the time.
