@StarsHope:  It’s never tooo early to supplement your diet with extra vitamins and folic acid.

There’s nothing specific about prenatal vitamins that doesn’t make them appropriate as a regular, day to day vitamin.  My doctor actually recommends that all sexually active women of child bearing age take a prenatal as their regular multivitamin, just in case.  A little extra folic acid never hurt anybody.

The reccommended time is at least 3 months before ttc, so starting now would be good. The vitamens can take some time to build up to optimal levels, especially the folic acid. I began taking them last week, we’re hoping for a honeymoon baby:)
