Have any of your noticed weight gain after stopping BC pills? I stopped taking mine a couple months ago and I’ve sort of ballooned since then. And no, I’m not pregnant. (100% sure of this). Have any of you experienced this? Nothing else has really changed since coming off them. If anything, I’m alot more physically active now than I was one then!! I’m freaking out. Help?

When my sister went off of them, she gained abot 70lbs within a year. It totally screwed up her hormones (and we’re guessing her insulin resistiant levels) and thats when she discovered she had PCOS. However, that does run in my family (I have it too) so that may not be the case for you. So don’t think its that!
How much weight have you gained? Hopefully thats an okay question to ask here lol! I hear many people can gain up to 10lbs when they stop BC pills. It really does mess up your hormones. Eventually your body should readjust itself. If you are really concerned though, I would get some blood work done by a doctor.

@Azyriah: Honestly, I don’t know how much weight I’ve gained, since I don’t weigh myself. But my body has changed and my clothes don’t fit anymore. I’m guessing it’s close to 10 lbs, though. I see my gyno on Tuesday and I’m probably gonna go back on. It just sucks if that’s the reason I’ve been gaining, cause I have no desire to be on the pill for the rest of my life!

I gained 5lbs the 3 months I was off the pill before I got pregnant. I was shocked. While I was on the pill I had problems with low blood sugar and would snack in the afternoon. I continued the habit after I stopped the pill even though the blood sugar issue disappeared so I attribute the gain to that. I thought the pill was stopping me from loosing, guess I was wrong!!
