So my birthday is this weekend and I am very much hoping this is it! I know I really shouldn’t be hoping he’ll propose this weekend because he probably won’t and I don’t want to get my hopes up (realisticly I’m betting that he won’t propose for a whole ‘nother year!) but he’s been acting much more lovey dovey than usual. Usually I am the one who texts him first, but the past week or two he keeps sending me sweet messages when I’m at work. And he was out with his mom the other day when usually he avoids her like the plague (he’s mentioned to me before that I would get his mother’s ring… hmm). AND he told me he hid my present at his work because he knew I would snoop through the apartment and try to find whatever it was that he got me, even though he keeps saying “you won’t like it” or “it’s nothing important”… if that’s true why does he need to hide it?! And I made engagement chicken two days ago (he praised it, but still likes my meatloaf more… Marry-Me Meatloaf, anyone?)
Argh! I just need someone to smack me up-side the head and tell me to snap out of it. If it doesn’t happen this weekend, I know that every single holiday, birthday, anniversary, whatever, I’m going to think will be the day and I’m going to get so strung out at it not happening I’m going to explode. And if I explode than I won’t be able to marry my amazing man 🙁
On a side note, do any of you waiting bees find yourself looking at your ring finger and just imagining what a ring there would look like? I do this a lot, and feel like such a weirdo whenever I catch myself at it.

Don’t get your hopes up too high, but the signs are good! Enjoy your birthday no matter what happens (happy early birthday!) and good luck this weekend 🙂
Oh and I definitely imagined a ring on my finger on more than one occasion before I was engaged! Hahaha…

@dance: I do it all the time… Only… I open up a photo of the ring I love and hold my hand beside it and place my hand on my laptop screen :

@dance: I’m trying to keep them under control! Thank goodness for WB or I really would explode… And thanks for the bday wishes 🙂
@Gwen von D: LOL I do the same thing! My bf caught me one time, but he couldn’t see the screen so I just got a weird look from him rather than a sarcastic head-shake/sigh.

I hope that your right and it does happen on your b-day. If doesn’t though just try to be happy and celebrate knowing at least you’ll have you guy by your side. I do envision what my e-ring will look like on my hand I pop open a photo of it all the time. When it comes to envisioning a ring on my finger well I solved that problem. I bought a plain band to wear on my ring finger to get use to wearing jewelry and for fun. I just can’t wait until it’ll get replaced by my e-ring one day.

Girl, I know how you feel, and I was there last week, lol! Here’s to hoping and wishing that there’s some magic in your meatloaf! Just sit back and enjoy all the extra romance from your sweetie, have a wonderful birthday celebration, and know in your heart that his mom’s ring will be on your finger very soon. Yippeeeeee!!!!!!!!

I’m the same way–every big event and now with the holidays I will be thinking, “is it going to happen now??” He did recently tell me that he doesn’t want to do it during the holidays when everyone else is doing it, which makes sense, but also makes me kind of sad 🙁 But you are not alone in thinking this!
I also look at my naked ring finger a lot, moreso recently. Especially when I see someone with a particularly gorgeous ring, or when I look at the ones I wish I had. Sigh….

Hmmm more suspicious behavior:
I told him I am going to go get my nails done on Sunday before our family gathering to celebrate and eat lots of food, and he says, “Oh cool, can I come?” and says that he’ll pay for it and do I want to get my toes done too? He says it can be part of my bday present 🙂 It’s just surprising because I rarely get my nails done and he’s NEVER wanted to come with me when I do get them done (is that normal for men to want to watch you get them done?)
A positive way of not getting my hopes up for a proposal:
If this is how he awesome he’s being and there’s no proposal, I can’t wait to see how amazing he is when he’s ready to propose!

This–> On a side note, do any of you waiting bees find yourself looking at your ring finger and just imagining what a ring there would look like? I do this a lot, and feel like such a weirdo whenever I catch myself at it…..is sooooo me!
But I agree stay calm and try to keep your mind on other stuff. So easier said than done right?

@Gwen Von D: Me too! I find that since I have found ‘the ring’ I will do this more than I am comfortable admitting! LOL. A girl can dream right?
@AmyDee: Ugh I know what you mean about the holidays thing, especially with Christmas and New Years coming up right? All the signs are looking good, just remember to hide the disappointment if its not a ring as your present. But, keep thinking positive right! 🙂

I don’t look at my ring finger imagining what it will look like. But I do feel like my ring finger is missing something. Sometimes, I look at my hand, and think “It feels empty!”

Argh, nothing so far. My bday is today (yippee!) but he gave me some presents last night… no ring. Can’t be dissappointed though, he got me a purse from one of my fav designers (Kathy van Zeeland, who he calls Kathy something…) and it’s sweet that he remembered I like that brand 🙂 *sigh* Looks like I still have a lot of waiting to do…
