LoveGun : i also thought the postive result meant you were to ovulate a few hours (forget exact amount) after you test positive…. anyways im using the wondfo brand…
but we didnt bd the day after the positive tests, because i had two positive tests two days in a row (CD15 and CD16) So at that point we already BD three days straight. Plus my AM test (this morning CD17) was back to low fertility.
My DH straight up said he didnt think he had the stamina to do it four days in a row, he could barely hadnle three, lol. Heck i didnt even know i had it in me to go 3 days straight, we pulled through though at least for three days.
this is only my second month using ovulation test strips, so im still trying to get the exact science of it all figured out.

This is what we did, actually maybe even 4 in a row… That was the third month ttc and the first time we used preseed and did it that much.

Kslim13 : I think everyone is different. Some women have a long surge or a short one. Some ovulate the same day as the first +opk, the next day or 2 days later. I’ve been charting for awhile so I fgured out that I ovulate the day after my first +opk. Chart for a bit and you’ll hopefully see a pattern.

What we did was have intercourse every other day in four or five days leading up to my fertility window, then every day for the three days of my fertility window, as well as do it the day after my fertility window ended…some months we’d rest a day then do it once more. My cycle is slightly irregular at 27-31 days so we wanted to be sure we covered our bases. We concieved after 7 months of TTC.

starting around CD 10/11 we try to do it every other day leading up to my +OPK and then the day of +OPK but I have not done it the day after. I am older and read that in your late 30s you can ovulate the same day as your +OPK and in your 40s you may have already ovulated by the time you get first +OPK. This method worked for me twice so far but I know everyone is different and if you have the stamina to go daily for a short stretch then that is is supposedly the best way (unless low sperm count is an issue) but EOD is almost just as good too.

I don’t know scientifically what is recommended but we did 3 days on, 3 days off, 3 days on. This was around mid-cycle (without tracking temperatures or using OPKs) and I got pregnant aged 41. In the previous 4 cycles we’d done more typically one day on, one day off. It clearly worked.

We did 4 days in a row just because my temp took forever to rise. Ended up with a BFP this month!

I think you’re fine doing 3 days in a row as long as there are no sperm or low sperm count issues. But I don’t really think it makes a difference, every day or every other day- it will pretty much get you the same result (which is ~25% chance of conceiving, depending on your age). If you don’t know about the sperm and it’s been a while, you might be better off just doing EOD.

my confusion now is should we have been BDing the day after the positive results. I got two days in a row of positive tests (we BDed both these nights) until it went back to negative results the next night. but i figured since the test showed up negative there was no point in BDing for a fourth night.

Kslim13 : there is no need to keep BDing after the first positive on your OPK. I, too, got two days of positives and the month I got my BFP we BDed once only and it was the day of my first positive OPK.

We BD’ed two days in a row – the day before my OPK+ and the day of my OPK+ (I am certain I ovulated the day after I got my OPK+). That is all it took, and I’m almost 6 months pregnant now.
