Yep, I got about a million of these when I was trying to sell my car on Craigslist. It was always, “Oh, I’m out of the country,” or “Oh, I like your thing for sale. Is this thing still for sale? [Something stupid question that’s answered explicitly in the ad?]”

i had the same thing happen to me twice on kijiji (like craigslist).  they were in the navy and really wanted to buy my diamond earrings for their gf’s birthday but couldn’t come to get them.  they wanted to pay with paypal and wanted me to ship them.  it sounded a bit suspicious so i told them cash only.  they tried again a month later with another large priced item i was selling.  it was the exact same story.

good thing you didn’t get scammed.

@MsTargaryen:  You should also be aware of terrible grammar and/or spelling.  It’s often a sign of scammers who don’t know English as their first language (and are overseas, which usually is why they want Western Union or wire transfers). Any time there is a pick-up agent involved, you should be extremely cautious and are likely being scammed!

(I used to work in a financial crimes section, so I saw this stuff all the time!)

tricia003 yes! Thank you so much for posting about it. I was concerned and so glad I found your post! Honestly, the way the email was written almost suggests it is  a scam!Did you ever find a real buyer? 🙂

@abbie017 thanks for the advice! The grammar did seem strange, and I even tried to google the email address [email protected] but nothing came up. Maybe this will now for other concerned brides.

The exact same story happened to me when I was selling my car through craigslist, and the scammer even dared to threaten me! lol!
