I did take out a 10K loan. Unfortunatly, I REALLY regret this decision. Starting our lives as newlyweds was much more stressful with a debt on our backs.

Without the loan, we wouldn’t have been able to have the venue that both of us had our hearts set on, so we went ahead and made the decision together. Almost 1 year later, it isn’t paid off. I wish we had had the wedding later so that we would have been able to save up the 10K, instead of borrowing and incurring the interest that came with the loan.

If you think you can pay it back quickly, then it may be a completely different scenario for you, though!

Mine is Other, both Fiance and I are splitting the bill with his parents. We’re not putting any of it on credit.

My Fiance and I are splitting the costs…no credit cards or loans. We made a promise to each other not to go into debt for anything wedding related: rings, wedding, etc.

My Fiance and I are having a very small wedding with just our parents at a bed and breakfast in St Augustine, then we will stay for two nights before we take off on our honeymoon. Because it is going to be relatively inexpensive everyone is getting together and paying a portion of it. We may be paying for the remaining balance. Dad is helping my mom with the ceremony costs. My mom paid for the deposit to hold the date. His parents paid for a photographer. Sorry if my explanations was lengthy.

We are saving $10k ourselves and have told family that if they have a problem with the size of everything, then they can pitch in if they wanted. $10k can go a long way when you are creative and good at networking.

My hubby and I paid for the majority of our wedding.  I work as a therapist in the schools and was able to save ALL of my tutoring funds during the school year and two summers for the wedding.  My hubby, thankfully, was able to pay for our reception with cash and some credit (no interest/6 months deal).  My Mom also paid for many items as well (i.e. invitations, florist, half of my gown, etc.).  Luckily, we are about to make our final payment on the credit card this month!  Not too shabby, eh?!  Wink
