So I was at a wedding last weekend and the bride was wearing a big ballgown type dress. She looked beautiful, but she was kind of…staggering up the aisle. It was obvious she was having problems walking without tripping over her underskirts and it looked sort of like she was trying to walk through an uphill swamp, if you can imagine that. I’m not trying to be mean about the bride, she was gorgeous and it was a wonderful day, it just got me thinking.
Is/was it hard to walk on your dress? For bees who tried on multiple styles, what was the hardest to walk in? Did you fall at any point?

Mine was super easy! It was a ballgown but it was hemmed correctly. We had a few practices of walking around the salon until the seamstress was happy that I wasn’t kicking the underskirts out of the way as I walked. Great attention to detail there 🙂

Walking was fine. Sitting…..not so much.

I have to say really easy. I had a ballgown which was the perfect length and a two hopped underskirt. I had no problems walking down the aisle at all. The dress did start to wear a bit heavy as the evening wore on but I still busted my moves on the dance floor and didn’t feel restrcited at all.

She probably picked shoes that she wasn’t used to wearing (i.le. sky high heels) and didn’t practice before the wedding. I wore a big hoopskirt with flats and had no issues.

My dress is J Crew Arabelle – super super light. It’s been hemmed perfectly, so it’s really easy to walk (and dance) in! I think you should feel at least moderately comfortable on your wedding day!

It sounds like the inside parts of her dress were not properly hemmed! I wore an A-line and had no problems at all.

Ditto to everyone before me…..I am wearing a ball gown and at my last fitting I could walk perfectly fine in it (it had been hemmed just a tad). The ease of walking in a ball gown is all about a good hem!

I was definitely comfortable in my dress. I can’t seeing making a sacrifice to be uncomfy just for a particular style.
