Before we officially got engaged we decided a date, we booked out DJ as well as church and were looking for reception locations. He had bought the ring and told me to start to plan away. He was waiting for the “perfect moment” lol so I started to plan I am a planner.

Before he proposed, we had decided on a date (that date ended up not working out, but still!)
I had also started buying more magazines and clipping out inspiration pictures.
But…in my defense, I’ve been an event planner for 5 years, so a lot of that was work related.

Every once in a while I buy a wedding magazine and admire the pictures. If I notice a dress that really catches my eye, I’ll tear it out and squirrel it away somewhere where the SO won’t find it (not that he’d mind, I would just feel a bit sheepish about being caught).

we have most of it planned [yup, together] though haven’t put down any deposits. we’re waiting until we’re officially engaged before we do that so when it does happen, we’ll be ready to go!

I voted for “I know a potential date and location”. I also love planning. But this happened about 9 months ago I went on a wedding search craze. Looking at colors, dresses, prices, etc. I even started saving then. Which I think will be a big help. But after waiting for a year and counting (SO has had the ring for 17 days now) you don’t even really want to look and search until you’re sure it’s going to happen. It got pretty rocky for me while waiting so I wasn’t sure I would even be in a relationship so wedding planning was furthest from my mind. Now that I KNOW it’s happening soon I am so anxious and ready to plan. SO and I discussed a Destination Wedding as well as wanting to marry in March 2012. So that’s about all I know. I still have a few ideas tucked away in a binder when time comes.

I didn’t look at anything, or even think about what we were going to do til a couple months into our 2 year engagement! I figured what was the rush? And, I was really busy with work and school at the time, so I didn’t start until winter break. Oh, we did know what month we wanted too, because he proposed in October.

I joined WB before I was engaged, and it helped me understand everything that needed to be done for the planning… it helped me a lot to have all these ideas in my head once the proposal actually happened.
I researched photographers, venues, rings, dresses, and I am glad that I did, but it was all online, and no one knew 😉

I did all kinds of research before the engagement. I never put down any deposits or anything, but I definitely had (and still have :o)) an inspiration folder full of things I want.

I wanted to plan everything from the table numbers to the dress, but promised myself that I would wait until he proposed, and that’s what I did because it made it feel more special to me. That being said, I had kind of a vision of what I wanted, but didn’t try to elaborate too much

@W8ingBee:My entire wedding is basically planned too!!! I have not paid for anything (ok…I guess that’s a lie becasue I am making a pair of crystal shoes that I am totally planning on wearing to my wedding). I have done a lot of research online and basically know everything that I want. I thought I was a little crazy too…glad to hear Im not the only one Now just waiting….

Most of my wedding is planned and in the next few months I’m going to open up a “Wedding Fund” account to save up the cash we need for the important stuff. It looks like it’s going to be about 6k for the whole thing, so I want it payed off well before the wedding. Personally, I just want to run to Yosemite and elope, but SO has dreams of a 300 person event >.<
I don’t think pre-planning is crazy- i know that it’s going to happen soonish (6-8 months) and that year leading up to our wedding we can be saving money&tim looking in to buying a house! I’d like to be one of those 2k budget brides but in out town you can’t find a place for a wedding that’s any less then 2k for the site alone-That’s on a Sunday @@

I’m engaged, but I didn’t do any planning at all before I was engaged. I thought about elements I may have wanted in the wedding, but that’s it.

Back before I had the ring (we’re almost to one year of being engaged!) we had started to talk about dates and venues. We didn’t book any appointments for them or anything. I did, however, book a dress appointment for when my sister was coming into town. By the time it rolled around, he had proposed, but I might’ve tried on a few dresses the day we set up the appointment ;).

I have planned and past two wedding dates, thank God I have only bought a planner that I only use pencil in! The next date we agreed to is late October, but it looks like that one will go by too. I’m kind of over panning at this point. I’m not going to get excited about any more plans.

I put other because we have a potential season but no particular date picked. We made a mock guest list once as well just to see how many that would be. I haven’t looked into locations much other than I know it will most likely be in my church.
