I loved very few of them, and was pretty crushed.  Out of the 700 or so we got, I think I narrowed it down to about 150 where I really like the way I look.  Probably, like you, its the self criticism thing, but I feel like my photog focused more on getting a great shot, then whether I looked great in the shot.

It sounds to me like you’re lucky to love that many! It just isn’t realistic that you’d love EVERY photo.

I voted 90-100%, but it’s not because I’m a total hottie or anything. I think our photographer was just really good and also I think he didn’t share the bad pictures with us.

Or it might be just that the pictures where I’m making a funny face still show the emotion of the day so I love them anyway.

I don’t photograph very well, and over the years I’ve just had to accept it. I coud’ve hired Annie Leibovitz and she probably could not have taken a higher percentage of what I’d call “good” shots than the photogs we had.

I voted 10-29%. It’s unfortunate, and really no reflection on the talents of our photogs, but I really just can’t stand the way I look in most pictures. Even my parents and Darling Husband agree; they always say “it just doesn’t look like you!”

The pictures that managed to capture a flattering angle or cute expression are my favorites, and I did find a handful (out of the hundreds) that I do like. Those will probably be the full-page shots in our albums! ๐Ÿ˜€

I was saying to my husband the other day, that if I were a wedding photographer, I’d ask for my couple to send me some candid pics, and maybe even friend me on FB so I could take a look at their photos, and see what their “angles” were before shooting them.

I’d also ask what their body issues were… eg: would you do a hard-core sillhouette shot of a bride who hated her nose?  Not likely.   Nor would I ask a plus-sized couple to curl up on the ground together.  Stuff like that.  Also, I might find out that a couple had NO such issues and it was anything goes!  GREAT!

I understand photogs artists, but this is the ONE chance I have to look my absolute best with pro hair and makeup, so I feel like I want someone to really maximize that potential.

There are only a couple that I like. The photographer was awesome but all I see when I look at the pictures is what a disaster my dress was.

I loved pretty much all of them – we had the most gorgeous scenery – not because we’re hotties!  We’re just average.  But we wanted PaPOW mountain shots and we got them.

I was pretty happy with mine in general, but yeah there were definitely some I cringed at. I shared about 1/3 of them as the “best of” with friends/family if that gives you an idea. There are a couple I would totally blow up and make huge canvases of, and others I’d just like to delete lol. In hindsight I should have told the photographer not to take too many pictures from below eye level, as I hate it when my chin looks all fat…that wrecked several pictures for me personally.

A wise woman gave me a great advice when I was explaining to her how overwhelmed I was feeling regarding price of photographers. She basically told me not to think too deeply because in the end you don’t look at the 800 pictures you receive. You look at the 3 or 4 that end up in a frame around your house.

That put everything into perspective for me.
