Mr TTR are semi-retired, and we travel a lot.

We discussed this… and have decided that in most situations I will continue to wear my fairly sparkly E-Ring (as he said, it is insured !!)

However, there are certainly occasions when I won’t want to have it on… some locations outside of Canada & the USA (2nd or 3rd World Countries*… where it might attract too much attention), and again for some water activities that we do regularly like trips to the Beach, Snorkeling, Scuba etc.  In those situations I’ll just be wearing my plain gold W-Band.

When the E-Ring isn’t on my finger it’ll be locked up somewheres… Safety Deposit Box at home or Safe at a Hotel / Cruise etc.

*NOTE – Wearing a glittery fake in some countries isn’t a great idea either… the “bad guys” won’t know the difference, and you’ll still potentially be a target.  Which is why we’ll be going the route with a plain W-Band.  That way I can continue to wear “our” ring 24/7×365 without much worry

I wear mines everywhere, I feel naked without it! And it fits nice and tight and its hard to take it out, but at the same time it does not hurt.

My ring fits perfecetly and I never take it off except to clean it and when I am chopping jalapenos/peppers (ever get capsacin under your ring? Ouch!)

Nice this post is originally 4 years old!  I haven’t had a beach problem because we are landlocked in CO.  I have thought of ordering a sterling silver band to go travel with though.

I don’t wear it in the pool I’d be too afraid for it to slip off.  I leave it at home because my gym has had issues with people stealing things from the lockers and leaving in the car doesn’t seem like a good idea either.  My grandmother wore the ring everywhere since I’m pretty sure she couldn’t take it off.  But to me its so precious I wouldn’t want anything bad to happen to it.

@candygirl14:  No, I wouldn’t.  I generally don’t leave the house without wearing my engagement ring and wedding band, but I make exceptions for going swimming.  I had a gold bracelet break off once while I was swimming.  I know that there’s a big difference between a ring and a bracelet, but never again will I wear jewelry swimming.  Something could also happen to a ring, like it slipping off or stones falling out, and you might never get them back, especially from the ocean!  The risk is just not worth it!

Edit: Whoops!  I didn’t realize that this is a really old post! lol

I already told my Darling Husband that I am going to buy another ring to wear to the beach and on vacations…I am too nervous to lose my real set.

For this summer I just left my ring at home whenever I went to the beach.

I never, ever, ever wear my ring to the beach, the pool or to work out.  I never sleep with it on. In fact, I take off all rings, my watch and any bracelets the second I walk into the house.  It’s fine jewelry, so it deserves plenty of TLC.

I got engaged in Hawaii and wore my ring to the beach all the time. I would even have it on when going in the water and snorkeling. The only time I did not wear it was when going scuba diving because of the heavy lifting. My ring is pretty snug so I am not very worried about it falling off when in the water.

I honeymooned in Florida, and went to the beach (and even scuba diving!) a lot. I wore my wedding band + engagement ring 24/7. I was just super careful and always aware.

I live at the beach and wear mine. I usually park at my parents (1 block from beach) and often shower there before getting into evening activities. I don’t like to just leave it on a counter so I wear it. I too do the pony tail holder around my finger just for extransecurity. My mom has worn hers there all summer for 35+ years (she is a teacher so she has summers off) with no issues.
