For all of you doing a beach ceremony – what are you wearing on your feet?
I’d planned on sandals (flats) for the ceremony on sand and then heels for the reception (on a pool deck)… but my seamstress about had a heart attack when I told her I wanted to wear flats down the aisle when she’s hemming it for my 4″ heels. She told me that my dress will look “off” the whole ceremony.
She suggested wedges, which I did think about, but I’m worried I’ll be wobbly! Now, though, I’m looking for wedges so my dress doesn’t look odd… sigh.
What are you wearing down the aisle?

I would deff go with wedges if it was me.
Im getting married on the beach but not having the walk down the aisle I just plan on putting my shoes on when I get to the gazebo

I am going barefoot down the aisle and during the ceremony. For the indoor reception I am wearing wedding slippers (so cute AND comfy) from Isotoners. So there really isn’t much of a difference in my hem.
Wedges would be the only thing I can think of wearing that would give you the height of heels with the least amount of difficulty to walk.

I’m gonna be daring and wear heels. I know it might sound totally crazy but I fell in love with a pair of shoes and am not going to pass on them! So i’m just going to wear them the whole time! I did consider getting a cute pair of wedges, I found some cute ones on DSW.com and MYGLASSSLIPPER.com 🙂

I’m going barefoot for the ceremony, and some gorgeous heels for the reception which we’re having indoors. Best of both worlds!

I will be barefoot for both the ceremony and reception. Both are right on the beach though. I do have flat sandals in case I want them.

I have chosen to wear white flip flops down the aisle…well down the sand. They have a little bit of a wedge heel and should be comfortable to keep on during the ceremony.
However, for the reception, I am changing into my reception dress, which is short and I will wear some sort of heels for that.
Good Luck, what ever you decide to wear, make sure it’s comfortable!

My designer created a short dress that falls into a train. I am going barefoot on the beach. Tried it on today with flats, but wearing 4 inch heel for reception. If your dress is long the wedge i=would be nice. May want to have them smooth the aisleway for you

I am getting married beachside on the grass (4″ heels), but will be taking photos on the beach. I am going to try to walk in wedges on the sand. My Fiance is so much taller than I am and it would look ridiculous if I went barefoot in the sand.

I wore wedge flip flops with sequins on them. They were comfortable but as soon as I got to the reception, I danced barefoot all night!

Thank you all for your pics and ideas 🙂 I bought a pair of wedges to wear and will try them out on the beach during the rehearsal! They’re Ralph Lauren “Nan” and actually fairly comfortable so far.
My balance is not my biggest strength, so we’ll have to see how that goes…

Have you thought about using sole mates and wearing your reception shoes on the beach?

These should give you enough surface area to not sink into the sand. =)
