Are you having a photographer present to take pictures of you in your dress? If so, then just wear your dress for the pictures then go back to your room and change into a different dress for dinner. Maybe another white one, but something not too over the top for a restaurant. If you’re not having anyone take pictures, and you don’t want to go back to your room to change, then why not try a more “beach friendly” dress that can be worn for the rest of the night. I changed dresses for my vow renewal and it wasn’t a big deal to just head back to the room for an hour, get into a different dress for dinner and dancing, then go about the rest of the night.

@Bunny123:  We did the ceremony, took pics with the photographer and then went out to dinner and drinks.  I wore my dress all night and it was a lot of fun!

@Bunny123:  We were married at 5pm.  It was at a lake, not a beach though.  We did photographs around the lake, in a canoe, in the forest for about 1.5 hours.  Any longer would have been over kill, but it was still fun and we got lovely photos.  Then we had dinner reservations at 7pm.  That was nearly a 3 hour long meal with three courses and champange.
