@Ms_Destination Wedding_bee:  Much of it will depend on what sort of wedding you’re looking for and how many guests you’ll be having.

For just the basics, many resorts will offer you a free wedding ceremony and small dinner if you book into a certain room category/stay x number of nights.

I’d highly recommend connecting with a travel agent who specializes in DWs. I am using Beach Bum Vacations and they’ve been fantastic.

I’m getting married at Azul Sensatori in Riviera Maya. Our wedding is “free” and then we’re paying extra for private events: a cocktail hour and reception. I’m still adding things, but for ~25 guests we’ll be spending around $3000, decorations included.

There’s also a great destination wedding message board out there that’s not part of Wedding Bee. I’d google and try to find that for a wealth of information.

@Ms_Destination Wedding_bee:  look into AM resorts.. its a parent company of Dreams, Jade etc resorts. You can’t go wrong with AM resorts.  I’m getting married at a Dreams Resort.. I haven’t decided which one yet though. My BFF got married at Dreams Cancun and it was amazing. The packages range from 1000-3000 for 20 ish people. The webistes have all the info on what the packages offer etc.

I would look into Jade Resorts and Dreams Resorts.. that’s what I’m doing.

Definitely look into a travel agents that deal with those resorts on a regular basis. I have a recommend if you plan on doing an AM resort or a Dreams resort.. let me know if you need that info

Good luck!!

@Ms_Destination Wedding_bee:  welcome to the hive.

i second the AM resorts.  i personally have been to the now jade twice and loved it.  we went back for our honeymoon.  i met a couple of brides that got married there and they could not say anything negative.  this resort does an average of 60 weddings a month and you can choose from a few different locations for your ceremony and your reception.

also, the nice thing with this resort is that it is not far from the airport.

@Ms_Destination Wedding_bee:  Highly recommend Barcelo Maya Resort in the Mayan Riviera.

The site below has a very helpful forum for everything related to the resort and a whole section on weddings with tons of personal pics etc.

We’re not doing all inclusive and I think, in retrospect, it’s been kind of a budget buster.  I wouldn’t change my choices (I had a really hard time finding a resort/location I liked that would allow kids, and most of our guests will only be able to come for a few days – all things that made AI hard for us), but my 2 cents is that it really does help with expense.

I’m in the midst of planning for a wedding at Now in PV (it’s one of the AM resorts).  I’m not sure exactly what it will costs, but since we’re having a larger group (estimate about 50 attendees) and are doing quite a few add-ons I’m guessing the total cost at the resort for the wedding will be about $8000.

This, of course, doesn’t include costs like the dress and other clothing, the actual cost of staying at the hotel, wedding party gifts, favors/oot bags, rings, etc.

That said, the base packages range from free to $3000.  The $3000 includes pretty much everything you need for a 25 person wedding (including coctail reception and dinner!).  When you start adding marachi bands, DJs, extra decor, and (especially) extra guests you can really spend as much as you like!
