My Darling Husband decided to let me plan our 1st anniversary/summer vacation… well pretty much just summer vacation because it’s going to be 2 weeks before our real anniversary but we can’t go later because he has Guard on our actual anniversary. So I’m using this to celebrate our anniversary as well. lol. At first I was planning a big trip with friends in a large room at the beach since last year we only got to go for 2 days and we usually go for a week. Things kind of started falling apart with other people that were supposed to come along so I asked Darling Husband if he just wanted to go on another cruise instead… we went on a cruise for our honeymoon last summer. He said it’s up to me but I have no idea which we should do I just want a nice anniversary.
So the cruise will obviously end up costing quite a bit more than the beach, amd only last 7 days. It’s the same ship we were on for our honeymoon and we’d book the same type of suite but we’d get to go to 2 new ports out of the 3.
The beach will cost about $1000 less but it’s also pretty expensive. If we go to the beach we can stay for 9 days and the hotel I found is amazing and new to us at our favorite frequent vacation spot.
The other thing is we won’t be able to book the cruise until March and that will limit rooms, where as the beach hotel isn’t even taking any booking calls for 2013 until March.
I just don’t know if I want to go somewhere new and exciting for a little bit more money or stick with our old favorite and save a little money?
What would you do?

To add to my last comment, I would give just about anything to be able to go to Hawaii (where we married) for our one year anniversary. Haha.

@ChuckNorris: I’d love to go to Hawaii too but I’m afraid of planes. I do think 9 days instead of 7 would be amazing, we’ve never gone on a vacation longer than 7 days so it would be a new experience.

I prefer to try new things, so I would probably pass on both options and explore another vacation possibility. I justy love discovering new and different stuff with Mr. LK. What if you went to a different beach or sailed on a different ship?

@lovekiss: It’s the closest beach to home without going to New Jersey which I’m definitely not fond of and I don’t want to have to drive more than 4 hours. The Pride is the only Carnival ship out of Baltimore and the ship out of NYC is more expensive. =(

Personally… I’d be looking at doing something at least a “wee bit” different this time round (the world afterall is a BIG place)
Maybe a different beach on the Eastern Seaboard… lots of fabulous places… from Maine thru to Florida to explore in June
As for cruising… have you checked out Bermuda? Celebrity Cruises (the Summit) goes to Bermuda in June, and it is a pretty amazing place… and June is one of the best months to visit (not like the Caribbean… when that can be a very very hot time)
Hope this helps,

@This Time Round: We wanted to do Bermuda but it’s soooo much more than Caribbean for some reason. I really don’t understand why Bermuda is more when they are docked for 3 days without moving at all. Also with them being docked like that I have a bad feeling we’d end up spending toooons more on the beaches. We don’t want to spend over $4000 on a trip because were using our tax return as we usually do and we’d like to have a little something after the trip. If we go to OCMD we can go back again in the fall for next to nothing for their loyal customer week. I’ve been to a few beaches in MD and OC is the only one I really liked which is why we try to always go there… I don’t like NJ’s beaches and we are trying to avoid driving more than 4 hours which is how we came to decide either OCMD or Baltimore port cruise. We already know we loved cruising and that’s back to the original question of cruise or beach.

So not 100% sure WHY you bumped this topic again…

I haven’t decided I just know I have 2 places to decide between so was looking at what anyone else could add to help me with my decision. The only thing I decided on was one of these 2 places before I made this post and I can’t decide if it would be better to go on the cruise to see new places or the beach to save money and have a longer trip.
