My SO and I are considering a destination wedding in Nassau. It would be very small and intimate. No more than 30 people. My dream is to have the ceremony at the Cloisters and I really want a private (as much as possible) beach reception. Has anyone ever been to or had a beach reception. I have seen pictures. Also can you have a ceremony at the Cloisters without staying at Atlantis or One and Only? We are considering Wyndham Nassau, British Coloinial Hilton, and meliá nassau (formerly Sheraton). I know I would have to hire a wedding coordinator to help with the setup of a beach reception. Is it possible to have a dj on the beach? Am I over my head here? My budget is tight. 10K for the wedding. Not including travel, dress, or rings. Has anyone been married at the Cloisters and had a reception elsewhere?

I have only been to Nassau once briefly so I’m no help. That is super beautiful though!!! Here’s a bump.

@beautyofdreams: I’m a beach wedding photograher, and sadly, none of our beaches allow you to have a reception physically in the sand. However, there are plenty of places that do. I’m currently in the Dominican Republic now, and I’ve seen two beach wedding receptions this week alone. I’ve seen several beach weddings in the Bahamas but I don’t recall any beach receptions…but I’m sure they do it. I think you might definitely want to try and work with a wedding planner or the resort planner, even for a small wedding of only 30 people, 10k is probably going to be a pretty tight budget – just based on the actual venues. I do have a friend who is tentatively planning a Bahamas wedding though and I can see how far she’s gotten.
